Guess How Much I Love You Christmas To The Moon And Back – Captures The Christmas Spirit
On a snow-covered Christmas Eve, Little Nutbrown Hare and his friends stumble across
a little Brown Bear who is lost. Determined to return their young friend back to his
mother in time for Christmas, the friends venture bravely into the unknown woods.
Through this epic journey, we are reminded that the greatest gift of Christmas is being
with the ones you love. KIDS FIRST! Film Critic Morgan B. comments, “I really love
this film because it captures the Christmas spirit by showing us all the characters telling
us what they think about Christmas. They show us that Christmas really means family.”
Tina B., KIDS FIRST! Adult Juror adds, “The production values are outstanding, from
the animation to the voice over talent to the background music. The images look like
watercolors brought to life. I love them!” See their full reviews below.
Guess How Much I Love You Christmas To The Moon And Back
By Morgan B., KIDS FIRST! Film Critic, age 14
GHMILY_302_STILL_55.jpg
This film is based on the British book series written by Sam McBratney and illustrated by
Anita Jeram, published in 1994 in the UK and in 1995 in the US. The book was a ALA
Notable Children’s book and sold over 28 million copies worldwide!
Now, I have an adorable special guest who helped review the film with me, Little Field
Mouse. I really love this film because it captures the Christmas spirit by showing us all
the characters telling us what they think about Christmas. They show us that Christmas
really means family. It’s really about spending time with your family, not about giving
gifts or any of that stuff. It’s spending time with your Mom and Dad and anyone else you
love. That’s what I really respect about the film.
I really do cherish the story and also the animation in this film which is true to the
original illustrations in the book. It really captures the adventures of Little Nutbrown
Hare and his adventures. The show is produced by SLR Productions Australia (Suzanne
Ryan) and Scrawl Studios and stars the voice of Ky Baldwin. They really capture all the
original pictures from the book which look just like watercolors. I love them. It looks like
a beautiful story that was drawn by a little kid. I really love that! The animation is
something that everyone will truly enjoy.
I really love the characters in the story, especially my friend Little Field Mouse. Of
course Little Nutbrown Hare is my favorite character. He’s absolutely adorable and at the
same time, kind and thoughtful. Just his love for everything around him makes me love
him more. He’s kind of fun and silly, but really he is just adorable.
The film is really suitable for preschoolers but also older kids, up to age 8 will enjoy this
because of all the fun and silly stories. I even think tween and teens will like this show.
Of course, adults can enjoy this as well and it makes a great show for families to enjoy
during the holiday season. I definitely give this 5 out of 5 Magnificent Stars. It is
available now on DVD so, look for it!

Guess How Much I Love You: Christmas To the Moon and Back
Reviewed by Tina B., KIDS FIRST! Adult Juror
I thoroughly enjoyed this short film and highly recommend it for kids and families. This
is a heartwarming tale about Little Nutbrown Hare who wanders outside one night when
he can’t sleep and discovers a rare, all white fawn dancing in the snow. He knows all
white fawns are rare and when he talks to her she runs away. Through lots of escapades
Little Nutbrown Hare finally is able to convince his forest friends the fawn is real and
able to befriend the white fawn. The characters are interesting and charming. A field
mouse and a squirrel friends are all friends with Little Nutbrown Hare and they interact
with each other in the most loving way. I felt sorry for Little Nutbrown Hare when no one
believes that he had seen the white fawn. Eventually the truth comes out and they finally
see her and believe Little Nutbrown Hare. The morale of this story is about love. The
love between Little Nutbrown Hare and his dad, the love of friends and possibility of the
love of strangers. The negative behaviors shown are about doubt, but that disappears over
time. I particularly enjoyed seeing the field mouse trying to protect Little Nutbrown Hare
by making a white fawn out of snow. He tries to protect his friend’s honor in doing so.
The educational and social elements that make this film valuable emphasize the various
ways that you can show someone how you love them. Adults often tell children that they
love them and they can hear it in this story in a way they can relate to. The production
values are outstanding, from the animation to the voice over talent to the background
music. The images look like watercolors brought to life. I love them! I recommend this
for ages 2 to 7 and give it 5 out of 5 stars. It uses vocabulary and ideas which little
children can understand and enjoy. Questioning, probing and problem-solving are
developed in a manner suitable for the target age. It is very enjoyable and charming. If
you have a festival for preschool and early elementary kids, this will fit right in.

Life is in the Blintzes

“Life is in the Blintzes”

By Eric in Brooklyn, NY

An excerpt from Being Here…Too, Short Stories of Modern Enlightenment, Ariel and Shya Kane

When my maternal grandmother, Dora, was a child, she came to America from a tiny village in Eastern Europe. One of my fondest memories of her was that she made amazing blintzes, thin crepe-like pancakes filled with savory cheese. When I was a little boy I’d visit her in the Bronx in New York City, and we’d walk together to the store, my small hand in hers, to get fresh ingredients. Then we’d go back to her apartment and I’d watch her make my beloved blintzes. She never followed a recipe. Everything she made was by eye or by heart. The best part of all was eating them. My grandmother was a cheek pincher who loved me with food. And her food, from blintzes to chicken soup to chopped liver, was extraordinary.

By contrast, I hadn’t felt as close to my mother. While my dad and I shared jokes and a common interest in music, when I was in my pre-teen years, I decided that my mother was stoic, cold, and unable to connect with me emotionally. We didn’t spend much time talking and I didn’t enjoy her cooking.

Eventually I decided that I no longer wanted to be associated with the people in my mother’s family: Eastern European Jews. Their heritage, religion, language, customs, and even their food, including my formerly beloved blintzes, had become embarrassing to me. I conveniently forgot about the hard work and sacrifices my family had made to give me the life that I was taking for granted. I forgot how my mother had paid for things – my cello lessons, an expensive private college, and financial support she gave me when I was having some significant personal struggles – not to mention unwavering moral support.

Years passed and the gulf between me and my mother widened. When my parents moved to Florida, I never made visiting them a priority although my mom took the time to visit me. When I was cast as a professional actor in plays in Boston and New York City, my mother always came to see my performances. After the shows she would meet me, give me a hug and, before I had a chance to ask what she thought of my performance, she would whisper in my ear, “You were the best one.”

When I started to participate in Instantaneous Transformation seminars with Ariel and Shya, I saw that I had preconceived notions of my mother. I didn’t see her as she was. I saw her as I thought she was. That’s not the same thing. My thoughts about her were colored by a filter, put in place by my disgruntled teenage self who’d been insecure and desperate to fit in. Once I saw this important distinction, I was able to truly listen to what Mom had to say and to see things from her perspective. I saw her loving nature and acts, both past and present, because they were no longer at odds with my own very strong point of view. I was suddenly able to remember the hugs as well as the cream cheese and jelly sandwiches with no crusts. I even remembered when I went through my “purple phase” and Mom knitted me a purple sweater. It was well made, but in retrospect it wasn’t a great color decision for me. As a result of my new perspective, our relationship became closer and sweeter.

My grandma Dora is long gone. My mother is ninety-one and her health and memory are fading. She’s confined to a wheelchair and although her long-term memory is generally good, her short-term memory is nonexistent. She remembers my Dad, but not that he’s been dead for twenty years.

I recently went down to Florida to visit her. At first she thought I was a doctor, which was not a total loss. I’m a lawyer and a literary agent, but she had dreamt of my becoming a doctor, and to her I was. She told me she’d enjoyed my comedy show the night before (I was a standup comedian several years ago) although she felt I went on a little too long. Of course there was no show, but she was happy, especially that she’d stayed at my friend Oprah’s apartment. I was pleased to learn that I am close friends with Oprah Winfrey.

I wasn’t upset with Mom’s confusion. As long as she wasn’t depressed or scared, I rolled with it, going along with her reality. But she wasn’t eating and her nurses and aides were concerned. An additional benefit of my participating in the Kanes’ seminars is that I’ve become very intuitive. More accurately, I’ve allowed my intuition to override what used to be my denial and doubt.

Flat Book Cover.jpgI knew in my gut that blintzes would reignite my mother’s appetite. I asked the medical professionals if there were concerns about fat, salt or any other nutritional caveats. They said my mother needed calories and, at this point, any were good. I went to a deli near my mom’s house and on the way home, my car was filled with the familiar aroma of blintzes and matzo ball soup. Images of my grandmother’s smile went through my mind. I heard the roar of the crowd at Yankee stadium as we walked through her Bronx neighborhood. Most importantly, I felt the lineage of love that traveled from Dora through my mother to me. Unexpected tears welled up as I drove the Florida roads, far from New York City. I was grateful I could allow myself the pleasure of those tears, the welling of love and affection. When my mother devoured two blintzes and smiled at me, my chest swelled with gratitude for Instantaneous Transformation. My heritage is rich and full of love and life. In that moment, I rediscovered that life is in the blintzes.

South African Artists on the rise

Just when we thought our day couldn’t get any better. We were invited to an art exhibit by our good friend Zanele Mashumi. She is the art curator at The Melrose Art Gallery. She is by far one of the smartest people I have met when it comes to Art, how it appreciates, what artists to look out for and whose work is going to appreciate exponentially the fastest. She invited us as she knows we are searching for key pieces to decorate our home here in South Africa and wanted us to have a first hand look at the up and coming artists out of Durband and Johannesburg South Africa. We were blown away! The work of the these artists shows depth, creativity and passion. When you here Zanele speak on these pieces she too displays passion and excitement as she knows who’s got next in the art world. Like Art? Want some unique one of a kind prints that will appreciate in value, then you need to visit South Africa with us! bit.ly/2EX4AxzRSA Visit our website for travel dates, discounts and all this related to our all inclusive travel. In the mean please check the video about our night at Melrose Art Gallery in Melrose Arch *which is close to the 5 star hotel where we hosts our travelers.

See you soon…and stay tuned for our one on one interview with Zanele Mashumi coming soon!

A Visit to Monte Casino in South Africa

As we continue our transition into daily life here in South Africa, there is never a moment where you can find something to do and meet someone who is willing to share their love of country with you. Today we visited Monte Casino. A location that is nothing short of amazing, its home to a three theaters, a 10 pin bowling alley, a movie house, multiple venues to shop, magnificent indoor and more importantly an outdoor dining experience on the piazza complete with water feature and a huge big screen so patrons can enjoy the occasional rugby, football or cricket matches while dining. Tonight is one of those nights, its warm, the atmosphere is inviting and its busy! Matilda, the play is showing at the theater and parents are flocking to share the story of Roald Dahl with their little ones. We sit this one out, we have no little ones and we are more interested in visiting the 360 bar in the middle of casino where the view is perfect and the food and drinks are easily pictured on electronic menu. You will meet Caroline! She is our host for the evening and wants to invite you to South Africa. See you soon. https://youtu.be/_IRYWescQjE

The Mall of Africa

Today was day like any other. We decided to journey to the Mall of Africa. We have been there several times and its always beautiful and astonishing. Today in particular the weather was exceptional. As we walked along the piazza we noticed a little boy playing in the water feature. I smiled greeted his mother and she laughed. She said, “I know every time we come to Mall of Africa, I must bring another change of clothes from him. Even when his father brings him, same thing. He is not going to allow us to leave until he has played in the water.” The joy in that kids face was priceless, the smile on her face watching the joy in his, made me smile. It was contagious. Just looking at all beauty, even the small things, such as child playing in water.

We have a most phenomenal day. Africa… There is so much to do here…

Please join us for visit. We want to show you, The Real South Africa. https://youtu.be/TyUfZWcOuvU

Building Trust in a Noisy World

This post by Nick Glimsdahl is the companion to an interview with Michelle Harrison, CEO of Kanter Public, the WPP Group public policy consulting and research business, on Voice America where she talks about the first of its kind report that Kantar Public released at Davos focusing on the challenges governments face across the planet and how the current loss of trust impacts their ability to navigate current challenges.

Everyone — including me — is vying for your attention. We live in a noisy world, bombarded by advertisements, news, campaigns, emails, messages, and social media notifications.

So, how can a business build trust and credibility in today’s noisy world?

This deceptively simple, relevant question is up against a distrusting world. In America specifically, the state of trust is dire. The Edelman Trust Barometer’s Executive Summary reports, “It is no exaggeration to state the U.S. has reached a point of crisis that should provoke every leader, in government, business, or civil sector, into urgent action. Inertia is not an option, and neither is silence…no work is more important than re-establishing trust” (p. 7).

Rather than feeling overwhelmed, business leaders should take a strategic approach to build trust and create positive brand awareness to help ensure messages are received. While increasing revenue is vital to a successful business, focusing on revenue without prioritizing content, awareness, and trust is futile. Hence, a company’s first priority should be to make sure customers view its content, marketing, and brand as credible, trustworthy, and customer-centric.

Eight Trust-building actions to weave into a business strategy:

1. Base the customer experience on what is simplest for the customer, not what is simplest for the company

2. Weave technology into the fabric of the business strategy, demonstrating that the business is ‘with the times,’ aware of customer expectations, and able to quickly resolve issues with modern solutions

3. Create effortless, memorable interactions with your customers so they willingly return

4. Seek ways to provide value to others first

5. Ask for and respond to reviews and highlight them on your site

6. Create an online reputation and have a consistent brand

7. Make sure online interactions are secure

8. Have timely coverage of business news

Building a trustworthy brand results in many benefits. In fact, according to Forbes, trust is the most powerful currency in business. Beyond being a currency of its own, trust leads to referrals, stronger collaboration, a stronger business, and the ability to work through challenges internally or with a client.

Building trust requires time — a currency of itself; however, as the most powerful currency, trust requires the utmost attention for a company to reach its highest potential.
