5 Tips for Effective Content Marketing

Want better content marketing, then try these tips below and start getting more business today.

Think Beyond the Blog

One of the things you should be doing is thinking outside of the blog. While blogging is one of the most effective ways to reach your target audience, it’s not the only thing you should be focused on. People are constantly changing the way they consume content. To effectively adapt, you’ll need to embrace more than a single method of delivering content.

While it can be a daunting task for a lot of people, video content can be a great way to expand your reach. A report by Hootsuite noted that YouTube was able to pull in 2 billion monthly users monthly. By crafting quick and concise videos, you can create content that is easily digestible, compelling, and shareable. For content marketing help get in touch.

Properly Segment Your Audience

You’ll find that you have a lot of different types of people that make up your audience. A lot of these people will be viewing your content for completely different reasons. Without segmenting your audience, you will be underdelivering for some of them. You need to craft content for specific portions of your audience which is what segmenting does. That way, you can better address their needs. This will end up helping you maximize engagement with your content.

For instance, you might find that the content that resonates with brand new subscribers is completely different from existing subscribers. You need to figure out what each segment wants and craft content that speaks directly to them. One of the best ways to do this is by leveraging an email marketing tool. That makes it very easy to segment your audience correctly.

Create Infographics

Everyone has those moments where they skimmed through an article or even read through an article and still didn’t find the answer they were looking for. This is something everyone does. This is where infographics can help. A lot of people love the visual aspect of infographics. It breaks things down into an easy-to-read and easy-to-digest manner. With an infographic, you can increase engagement and help your visitors get what they were looking for out of your content.

If you are doing a blog post that incorporates a lot of data and non-visual elements, you’ll want to use infographics to make it more engaging and more fun. There are plenty of different infographic tools you can use to accomplish this.

Optimize the Headlines

Whenever someone goes to Google to complete a search, they are looking to get their answers. Nice web design is worth nothing – your headline is one of the main things that acts as an attention grabber. You want a good headline that drives people to your site. Try to create a headline that is well optimized to deliver what the prospective visitor is seeking.

By doing your research and figuring out what your competition is missing on, you should be able to create headlines that fill the gap. A lot of people aren’t going to continue reading your post if it doesn’t get straight to the point of why they landed on your site, to begin with.

Understand the Data

While the analytics of your site may seem incredibly boring, unnecessary, and overwhelming – they are essential. You must not only pay attention to these metrics, but you must learn what they mean. They are going to deliver you essential information about your site that will dictate your success.

If you aren’t looking at and adapting based on what the data is telling you, it’s going to cost you. You could be spending far too much time focusing on things that aren’t as important. You could even be setting yourself up for failure. Focus on the data and understand it and you’ll have a much greater chance at success.

To Blog or Not To Blog By Janet Kunst

To blog or not to blog…that is the question that many small businesses ask these days.  There’s a lot of work involved in starting a blog – and maintaining it.  So much so that many will start a blog and abandon it after a few months.  Why?  Many will say that it was taking too much time, or their priorities shifted, but I’ll bet the underlying reason is that they were discouraged and frustrated that all their efforts didn’t seem to produce much in the way of results.  It’s true, there is a lot of work that goes into blogging, but in the long run, the effort will pay off in increasing your customer engagement, building your know-like-trust factor with your clients and potential clients, SEO for your website, and more.

Whether you have considered blogging, started and abandoned your company blog, or just want some new tips and suggestions to make your blog even better, then tune into this week’s episode of Marketing That Won’t Break The Bank on Wednesday, August 23rd at noon PT on the VoiceAmerica.com Business Channel:  https://www.voiceamerica.com/show/2654/marketing-that-wont-break-the-bank.  We’ll break down the concept of blogging into actionable steps that will get you up and running quickly, including a look at some of the technical aspects of maintaining a blog, how to write content your readers will love, and simple ways to share that content in multiple places for maximum exposure.

Jody Padar Named Top LinkedIn Voice in Finance for Second Consecutive Year. By Liz Gold

For the second year in a row, Jody Padar, CPA, MST, has been named to LinkedIn’s Top Voices list in Finance & Economy. This is LinkedIn’s second annual list and Padar was also honored on the social media company’s inaugural list last year.
“I’m thrilled,” said Padar. “I’ve been challenging the accounting profession and its traditional model since I started blogging seven years ago. For me, it was about hashing things out via writing as I recreated my firm to reflect emerging technologies. I believe I connect with people because I’m real; I tend to address the pink elephant in the room and I believe in total transparency when it comes to my customers and my business. And I like to tell stories about my experience. Writing is a great way for me to do that. I think that resonates.”
LinkedIn Top Voices is the company’s ranked list of the top 10 writers in 10 different areas – Influencer; Education; Finance & Economy; Healthcare; Management & Culture; Marketing & Social Media; Media; Student; Technology; VC & Entrepreneurship. LinkedIn now has more than three million unique writers on the publishing platform creating 160,000 articles per week.

“To compile the list, we use a combination of data and editorial signals designed to capture the voices making a mark in their industries,” said Daniel Roth, executive editor at LinkedIn in a statement. “Some of the inputs include engagement (particularly the comments and shares of each post); growth of followers tied to publishing activity; and number of times the writer had been featured in a channel in his or her area of expertise.”
According to Roth, the list reflects publishing activity over a 12-month period, from October 2015 to October 2016. Each of the top writers on average generated over 54,000 new follows this year – almost 150 new followers a day. Padar has nearly 93,000 followers on LinkedIn. Her writing process was featured in this recent LinkedIn article.
Padar is one of the accounting profession’s foremost visionaries and pioneers. As a practitioner, she is CEO and Principal of the New Vision CPA Group, a public accounting firm based in the Chicago area. She is the co-host of “Let’s Get Radical,” a radio show hosted on the Business Channel of VoiceAmerica, interviewing small business owners and entrepreneurs. Padar is the author of The Radical CPA: New Rules for the Future-Ready Firm, and is a regular contributor to Accounting Today and CPA Trendlines, where she offers practical tips and advice on running a next-generation firm. She has been featured in Forbes, Inc. International Business Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, USA Today, Business News Daily, and Entrepreneur.
As an author, lecturer, coach, consultant, and mentor, she advocates for progress and innovation in the accounting profession, heralding a new way of thinking about the practice of accountancy and giving it new purpose. Padar has been named by Accounting Today as “the Top 100 Most Influential to the Profession” for the last six years.
Padar earned her BBA from Saint Mary’s College and MST from Northern Illinois University. Padar is also an adjunct professor at Oakton Community College and a contributing member of the Intuit Trainer Writer Network.

The Business of Books, Forever and Always By Cynthia Brian
cynthia on airAfter nine blissful months of pregnancy and thirty-three excruciating hours of labor, my beautiful baby boy was born. After ten years of searching for land two years of construction mishaps, our custom home was erected.  Both experiences were only the beginning of a lifetime of commitment and dedication.

Birthing a book is equivalent to building a house or having a child. The real work begins and continues after the grand entrance.

When I was a newly published author, I was erroneously under the impression that the five years I had spent toiling to make every sentence sing signaled the end of my arduous journey. Now, I presumed, since I had built it, “they” would come while I embarked on my next writing adventure. Wrong, oh, so very wrong!

Publishing is a business, not a hobby. To grow a business, marketing and promoting are essential. When it comes to the book business, publicity and platform are the key elements to success. Whether traditionally or self-published, every author must be the writer, producer, director, and public relations firm of her own production. Publicity is 24/7, ongoing, and perpetual. Creating buzz around a book costs money, energy, time, and an Olympian spirit to win.

The most important thing any author needs to know about the book business is that being a laudable author is a marathon, not a sprint. As cliché as it is, if you want to become a star, you have to be the star you are. Be prompt, be persistent, be passionate, be everywhere!

As a mom, I am and always will be a doctor, lawyer, cook, teacher, housekeeper, police officer, playmate, entcynthia-booksertainer, and head cheerleader to my children. As a homeowner, it’s up to me to be the decorator, landscaper, window washer, pipe cleaner, fence fixer, maintenance provider, bill payer, pooper scooper, and good neighbor. And as an author, I am the Chief Enthusiasm Officer of my books, championing my cause, walking my talk, and exciting others to read my words by constantly promoting, publicizing, and producing while being the consummate mother and contractor of my artistic empire…today, tomorrow, and forever.

Cynthia Brian is a New York Times best selling author, radio personality, media coach, and Founder of the literacy and positive message charity, Be the Star You Are!® When she’s not writing and coaching, you’ll find her with her menagerie of adopted animals mucking her barn.
