Living a Conscious Life

The “new consciousness” movement has been growing in the Western world for at least a decade but was of interest mainly to the healing and spiritual communities. Now, thanks to scientific discoveries, this movement is expanding everywhere. However, it is becoming a mere paradigm (a trend) for many people and industries and sometimes loses its essence. Let’s shed light on the difference between a paradigm and the new consciousness movement of the 21st century. Whereas the former implies a novelty, a branding or marketable idea for a product, or is used as propaganda, the latter is about a radical change in the way we see reality, relate to ourselves, the world, and the universe. A “paradigm” brings a different way of structuring society overall, like technology has changed our way of doing business and socializing – it is within the same worldview of the system, and we simply change pawns on the chess board.

On the contrary, a “shift of consciousness” shatters the very basic worldview and raises the simple and yet profound question of “Who am I? Who are we?” In short, the Western worldview with its dualistic perspective is now slowly shifting to Oneness as the new reality of the universe. Consequently, changes emerge culturally and are only then visible to the public. We all witness a change happening on the planet that translates as “chaos” at all levels, such as geo-politics, health, societal, business, humanitarian issues, identity questions, existential concerns, etc.

Furthermore, “new consciousness” is more than a concept. It is fundamentally a reality that leads us to a new world and way of existing on the planet – it is an existential shift. Not because of the environmental threats (which is a result) but because of so much suffering at all levels that has reached its peak. How does the new consciousness affect our cultural reality and our lives? Wikipedia defines it as:

The new consciousness means that what was once considered weird thinking has now been backed by scientific evidence. So, it has now been accepted as valid and is rapidly becoming the new norm.

The “new consciousness” is twofold. First, there is truth in Wikipedia’s statement as for the first time in modern history science and spirituality team up to offer a revisited version of reality. I remember reading in a scientific book years ago that “Quantum physics and Zen are the same. They both question the reality we live in.” And that was in the 80’s already. Quantum theory backed up some Eastern spiritual teachings and will probably continue to do so even more. While many people need science to validate their limited view of reality, many spiritual practitioners know or have experienced a much profound reality without the validation of science. Some call it “faith,” others “intuitive or spiritual experience.” As an example, quantum physics and neuroscience redefine gravity as a field of consciousness in which everything is connected, from human cells to stars and galaxies, like knots in a spiderweb. In biology, epigenetics shows that consciousness is affecting our DNA, and the latter is only the blueprint while consciousness is the architect. As a result, what was seen as absolute reality with a deterministic view and Cartesian reality (binary mind) is now broken down and brings us into an empowering reality where we are in control of our own minds, bodies, and lives. Our traditional Western metanarratives (philosophy, science, medicine, etc.) are shaken up and are adapting to, or in some cases resisting, this new understanding of reality. This is the birth of the “new consciousness.” To be more specific, we call it “new consciousness” because even if this view of Oneness is not new per se, it is only now that it grows roots in our Western societies. Any big shift of worldview takes time to become a norm.

Consequently, we are experiencing a breakdown of our traditional beliefs system and we face socio-political chaos because if we don’t trust our own foundation anymore, what is left, then? We are faced with uncertainty, paradoxes, more dualities, fear, frustrations, existential crisis, etc. It takes time to embrace a new way of life. If we add to that the environmental crisis, we may face the 6th mass extinction on the planet as many scientists like Gregg Braden stated. It is about humanity. If we do not change our way of life and thinking, we will end up like dinosaurs in Jurassic era. We need a new grounding platform with a new type of leadership based on the “new consciousness,” which is the realization that there is oneness in nature and the universe, which translates as: collaboration instead of competition; balanced life instead of performing; compassion instead of judgment; thriving instead of surviving; maintenance of health instead of preventing a disease; self-transformation instead of wellbeing; collective instead of individualism; and Oneness instead of duality. Naturally, that leads us to the second aspect of the “new consciousness” as a spiritual shift in our modern societies.

Spirituality simply means rethinking our reality and questioning the “I” that we attach to; a way of relating to oneself, others, nature, the world, and the universe for harmony and self-realization. The chaos experienced in this beginning of the 21st century triggered an existential crisis that calls for rethinking “who we are” and our life missions as humans. We all know the saying “be the change you want to see in society.” Therefore, the new consciousness refers to something deeper than just a change of lifestyle or way of life. At the core of the new consciousness is the idea of self-transformation as an active path. It is not enough to ask for a transformation of socio-political structure, for example, as if it was something outside of us. We are society. Even if the structure changes and we don’t change ourselves, chaos will still be there on a different level. We all need to self-transform ourselves. It is the foundation of everything we do, think, undertake at all levels, whether it is social, educational, political, scientific, economics, arts, healing modalities, etc. It is a shift in the way we look at ourselves, the world, nature, the universe. It is a profound shift. Not a mere paradigm, but a shift of consciousness, from “me and the world” to “oneness.” This is the only way we can push humanity forward, as many transformational speakers, mystics, and leaders have stated.

“Who am I?” is the beginning of our inner journey to self-transformation. We are more than a name, a social identity, a cultural, ideological, or national identity, more than a religious identity, and even more than our physical bodies. Yes, you know that already BUT never took real action to reach that true nature, or true Self. The new consciousness is precisely to “stop thinking or talking about it as a concept, and now attain it!” Knowing is not enough. Do it! We all practice some spiritual modalities like meditation, yoga, prayers, etc., but still do it in a dualistic way, meaning we practice to please our “ego.” We do not realize that we practice as a way out of suffering and to obtain something for our personal gains while the true practice is to go inward to remember who we truly are and drop all illusions about our separate selves to move out of duality. The new consciousness is about moving out of duality to live in Oneness. Not to ask for something that the ego needs. It takes a real and sincere practice for self-transformation, otherwise our practice remains a fashionable lifestyle – nothing more. The new consciousness is about “conscious actions” for Conscious Living.

The 21st century, then, is offering us a great opportunity to shift our small consciousness to higher consciousness and develop our true human potential for ourselves and the planet. Together, we can do it.

I am the host of “Tea Break with” podcast based upon this question of new consciousness and how it affects us on many levels and helps us move to a greater life experience. Guests in the podcast come from various professional backgrounds and offer observations, directions, reflections, suggestions on the subject and what it means in our lives. Guests also share with us how they try to make a difference in their own lives and respective fields of expertise.

Join us and be part of the 21st century!

Considering aspects of Hypnosis

Considering aspects of Hypnosis

Hi my name is Ines Simpson and I have a weekly podcast on VoiceAmerica Health and Wellness Channel called Hypnosis-Everywhere. You can listen here

A little post here for those of you wondering about this world of Hypnosis…

Wondering where to begin?

Where to start?
In my life I have always used Mentors, some good, some not so good, some I was aware I was using ( or modelling) some I never realized until later.

Sometimes it was deliberate and measured.

Jerry Kein was a tremendous Mentor to me. He didn’t call me up, or come to my house, but his work, his videos, his presentations at the NGH – at all of those of those venues and in all his teachings I could get access too – I was his student.

Now I find, I am in the position of mentoring others – and it’s wonderful and humbling. And I really, really enjoy helping Hypnotists, experienced and brand new to move through situations they are unsure of, and helping them with more exciting work with them on new ideas or processes that they want to try.

Sometimes its when you get a series of clients that you can’t seem to shift – and you need a different pair of eyes, or different track of experience to make all that work. Sometimes it’s for confidence in a certain technique, or insight into a new way of doing old things to achieve the results you are looking for. Whatever it is – it’s a collaboration on an aspect of your practice or coming practice that moves it forward.

And rather than be haphazard about this, or turn people away because I am running out of time – I have decided to make it a part of my Hypnosis practice – set aside time and schedule to work with those who want to work through things.

Mentoring as a practice. For the absolute Beginner – or Someone already with a little or more experience

FOR the Beginner:
For the absolute Beginner – instead of a fixed formal course I am putting together an online  course you can follow at your pace – there will be all the details here when its done – in the meantime you can email me for more info now
FOR Someone already working or has a little experience:
I made a video explaining this a little more – you can see it here ;

And there’s a webpage with more details here

If you want to work through some things in your Hypnosis work, or , as I mentioned, you are just getting started and want some firm foundations, or expand your practice, clarify some methods or techniques – give me a call or email me and we can chat and see if there’s a way I can help that works for you (and me – of course – its always about me too!!)

If you just want to go through some things that will confirm you are on the right track.
If you want to get back on track!
Let’s see what we can do

What’s this Hypnosis Stuff all about anyway??
Does Hypnosis Work?? Can I be Hypnotized? Will it change me forever??
My name is Ines Simpson and I have the weekly podcast – Hypnosis-Everywhere on Voice America Health & Wellness Channel
Let’s chat about this Hypnosis thing
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring event, an essential occurring event in our lives – like breathing, or walking, or laughing – its a thing we do many times a day – every day. Hypnosis is the way the Mind works. Its call focused attention. It allows us to become immersed in a book, or a movie, or another person ( we call this Love). It allows us to focus on a sport (getting in the zone) – exceeding past the place we thought we never could.
That’s what we do – naturally – all the time.
Creating Hypnosis on purpose, however, allows us to create change – positive change in our lives.
I have this little FREE book you can download with the link below – have a look – its FREE – but valuable as it offers up a lot of information. And will continue this discussion about what Hypnosis is and isnt and how valuable it can be for you – when you take advantage of it.
If you have never taken a course or have. If you’ve never had a session with Hypnosis or have – but you’ve wondered what is it with this Hypnosis deal?  Feel free to check out this book.
Or you’ve had some experience and wondered what else there may be – go ahead check out this book.
If you wonder if there is any money in it – and what kind of career it may be – full or part-time – go ahead and download this book – feel free

Dr. Will Tuttle’s Vegan Keys to Health and Longevity in 2018

I had the great pleasure and honor of having Dr. Will Tuttle, author of The World Peace Diet, on Sacred Exploration Radio, in which we discussed the deep spiritual implications of how we eat. Our philosophies align quite beautifully and expand upon each other’s experience. Here, he provides additional information about  basic principles in understanding longevity:

IMG_6192.JPG

The higher we are eating on the food chain, the more concentrated the toxins are in the foods we are eating. Cows, pigs, chickens, and farmed fish, for example, are eating corn, soy, alfalfa, and other grains that absorb environmental toxins, especially if they’re not organic. Additionally, their feed is often enriched with fishmeal, chicken litter, slaughterhouse waste, and other substances that concentrate toxins, and that industry has found profitable to use, promoting weight gain and milk production. The result is that with animal foods, we are consuming PCBs, dioxins, heavy metals, nuclear radiation, pesticides, herbicides, and a wide range of injected drug and hormone residues. These physical toxins tend to increase rates of cancer and weaken our immune system, reducing longevity. There are also naturally occurring toxins in animal foods, such as the primary protein in milk, casein, which we are not designed to digest, as well as other animal proteins that tend to be inflammatory and to acidify our blood and tissues. These substances, along with saturated animal fat, hormones, heterocyclic amines, and other naturally occurring substances increase risk for heart disease, strokes, diverticulitis, kidney and liver disease, obesity, autoimmune disease, arthritis, and other conditions that reduce health and longevity.

However, beyond these physical toxins that accumulate in animal-sourced foods, there are what we can refer to as metaphysical toxins that we may not be aware of. The animals who provide the flesh, dairy products, and eggs we are typically pressured into eating from infancy are confined, mutilated, abused, and killed in ways that lead to our consuming metaphysical toxins. I have heard the plaintive wails of despondent dairy cows whose calves are stolen from them at birth, and the squeals of pain and terror as pigs are sent to slaughter. In purchasing animal foods, we are both causing and consuming acute fear, despair, pain, sadness, and frustration. What is the result of building our bodies with these hormonal and vibrational realities? Further, all the cows, pigs, chickens, and other animals we use for food are killed at a small fraction of their natural life spans, when they are mere infants or children in human terms. What is the result of killing billions of animals for food when they are only infants? Destroying the longevity and health of others, do we destroy our own health and longevity?

We can see the answer to this in the decreasing longevity rates in the U.S., and in the vast profits accruing to the medical-pharmaceutical industry, which sells billions of dollars of drugs annually in three main markets: 1) for animals who are imprisoned for food; 2) for people who eat foods derived from these animals and consequently need medications for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and other resulting conditions, and 3) the largest market of all, for people who are prescribed medications for mental conditions such as insomnia, depression, anxiety, panic, and dementia, and who, significantly, are typically buying and eating animal foods, causing insomnia, depression, anxiety, and panic in the animals whose flesh and secretions they are eating. The ancient wisdom holds true eternally: as we sow, we reap.

Longevity is not only about the quantity of years we live; it is also about the quality of our lives as well. As a composer and pianist, I have spent quite a bit of time over the years offering concerts to elderly people confined to nursing homes, and have thus been able to witness some of the effects of our food and medical systems. Many of us who in our later years are committed to these institutions are drugged into states where we exhibit little awareness and our capacities and functionality are tragically minimized. We may live for years in these facilities doing little more than watching television and staring blankly. These painful years add little to meaningful longevity, yet cows, pigs, chickens, and fishes continue to be killed to keep us alive, and as a culture, we fail to see how our abuse of these animals boomerangs and affects us all.

Looking more deeply into longevity, we are called also to address the bigger picture, and the purpose of our lives on this Earth.  Why are we here, actually? If we live longer, what are we doing with the additional years? How are we contributing to our deeper purpose, and to the purpose of humanity? What role does our lifetime here have in the larger journey of our being as an expression of eternal consciousness?

No matter how we look at it, whether we live to be 60, or 80, or even, say, 110 years, which seems remarkably long to us, we will inevitably find ourselves at that moment when we leave our bodies, and this moment is unpredictable. The mere handful of decades we have here on our earthly adventure, relatively brief and precious as it is, opens ineluctably to a new experience after death that is strongly influenced by how we live our life here.

We are not merely physical objects, pieces of living meat with a brain and biological drives. This delusion of materialism is perpetuated by our animal-enslaving culture, which is based on eating animals and relentlessly reducing beings to things.

Despite the reductionist narrative of our culture, we are all manifestations of infinite and eternal consciousness. Though what we are can never, essentially, be born or die, our human life is significant, because we have the opportunity to learn, grow, express, and contribute as part of a boundless unity of being.

By questioning the official stories of our culture that promote violence and disease, and pursuing our lives as questing adventures of awakening joy, love, freedom, and respect for all expressions of life, we connect with our spiritual health and longevity, which is rooted in the timeless awareness that is the core of our true nature. By living this lifetime in alignment with vegan values, endeavoring to bless others and allowing them to fulfill their purposes, we sow seeds not just for physical health and longevity, but also for metaphysical health and longevity as well.

Our journey is far more vast than we can fathom, especially within the context of our cultural conditioning. The seeds we sow will produce after their kind, with consequences that reverberate throughout the entire web of creation, far beyond what we’re aware of here. The quality of these reverberations determines the quality of our lives not just as physical beings here on Earth, but as expressions of eternal consciousness in the far bigger picture into which our lives here unfold. This is the most significant longevity, and one through which the compassion of vegan living brings benefits to all of us, both here on this Earth, and also into our unfolding journey beyond the veils of this lifetime.

Blooming through the Creative Process by Marie-Helene Tourenne

2012_06_23_IMG_0119-150x150

Marie-Helene Tourenne and her guest Greg Thatcher discuss his path as an artist, and his special relationship with his favorite subject which is trees. Art as a language and the processes involved in the manifestation of a piece of art work will also be discussed. Greg Thachter who has native american ancestry has studied at the University of Victoria, B.C., Canada, B.F.A. with Distinction and University of Saskatchewan, Canada, M.A. in Painting and Drawing. He has been teaching art since 1979.

For him, the direct experience of an artwork is primarily an internal experience, based solely upon our level of consciousness and our mental impressions and past experiences. Experiencing an artwork with openness can provide us with direct contact with our deeper selves and, at times, a beautiful epiphany that reaffirms the divine.

Welcome To Time Share by Marie Jackson

Jackson-player-wide

This Time Share is a bit like a vacation timeshare. You can take a time out from your schedule, take a break and a breath, and when you return to your day, you can see things differently – broader, bigger, deeper.

Weekly topics explore the subject of metaphysical spirituality, a field of study seeking to know life’s essence beyond what we recognize as physical – conversations offering perspectives to deepen our comfort with questions bridging the gap between materialist science and ideology or faith.

This first episode features just the host, Marie Jackson, introducing the format of the show, profiles of the regular contributors and some of the topics we will be exploring month by month.

February’s topic was “Ego isn’t a bad thing; it’s a tool, a vehicle transporting our character and self. We lose our way when the outer vehicle does the driving instead of the inner navigator.”

Marie begins the conversation with understanding Intention and the law of attraction.

You can listen to Time Share: Living Reality – Navigating the Dream live every Thursday at 9am PST.
