What great ideas we shared for delicious, mostly vegetable meals, using meat and grain only as garnishes! As this was Laura’s second time appearing on InsideOut, her impact on our community of listeners grew even stronger. We shared how much we have all changed the ways we plan, shop, prepare and eat our meals, coming into more alignment with the suggestions of Chef Laura and our planet’s need for reduced carbon emissions. InsideOut Forum Discussion Call: Enter Mrs. God: An Exclusive Interview

Mrs. God

On today’s InsideOut Forum Discussion Call we followed up on an interview with Mrs. God, no less! What a zany and powerful experience with Mrs.God on the show! She really challenged our thinking about who/what God is and is NOT and we continued to explore those ideas on the call this morning. Is God perfect and all-powerful, or is God the totality of all being. Is there a devil or are those qualities that we have assigned to the Devil really aspects of God, the totality? Why Do We Do Dumb Things?

doing dumb things

Why do we do dumb things? On this morning’s InsideOut Forum Discussion call, we became aware that we do so many dumb things, not just a few. We saw that we all do many of the same dumb things. We all want to avoid seeing and feeling the pain of others, because we might be challenged to DO something, whether helping them or leaving them. We find our alternatives daunting or frightening, so we avoid reality. Of course, the consequences are brutal. Take global warming as an example. We want to avoid taking action of a very painful situation, but as one woman pointed out on the call, it sets us up to feel the pain for longer! What are the dumb things YOU do? Can you relate to the examples shared on today’s call? Read our blog and share your thoughts and experiences in a venue that welcomes you to be real!

Are You In Roles or Relationships? And Why It Matters

roles we play

On today’s InsideOut Forum Discussion Call we explored the rich and rewarding topic of whether we are in roles or relationships and why that matters. The discussion revealed so many important and helpful realities about this topic. We saw how we hold onto roles that no longer serve us, if they ever really did. We explored how we are hurt by playing roles that prevent us from doing our real jobs…like playing the role of the ever-loving father rather than providing leadership and teaching accountability to our children. Everyone plays roles! What are yours? How are they preventing really relating and connecting? How are your roles preventing your ability to be guided by higher consciousness? Rage, Religion & Righteousness: How We Rationalize Violence!

religious violence

On today’s InsideOut Forum Discussion Call we took on the controversial topic or how we use our religious beliefs to rationalize violence. What a timely and painful subject! People on the call recounted how their own childhood religious training taught them to believe they were right and everyone else was wrong and that that justified violence, as in Israel and Palestine. Others shared how Catholicism was taught to be the one and only true religion and the prejudice and judgments that came from believing that or the criticism that came from NOT believing that. Our callers related on so many levels, personally and collectively to the notion of using religious beliefs as a way of feeling righteous and acting that out in violent ways. How did your childhood training relate to this topic? Or were you raised atheist, a belief system that research shows leading to less violence? Can one have spiritual beliefs that lead to oneness consciousness and peace on earth? Join our conversation online, where it is safe to be real and you are welcome!

Is It True That God Never Gives Us More Than We Can Handle?

God never gives us more than we can handle

On today’s InsideOut Forum Discussion Call we took on the age-old platitude that God never gives us more than we can handle. We could all acknowledge that we have known many people, including ourselves for whom this platitude is not true. We could relate to the reality that we all know people who have died or been irreparably damaged by traumas or loss. Why do we say this then? One reason we could see was that saying to ourselves such things as “Only good can come of this,” might help us relax in the moment, but that pretending to be able to handle something that we can’t only sends us into denial. This denial, in turn, causes us to pretend we are okay and NOT to get the help or support that might, in fact, help us to heal and move beyond the pain. Delusional Thinking and the Magic of Reality

delusions

On today’s InsideOut Forum Discussion Call, we continued the conversation about Delusional Thinking and the Magic of Reality. What a fascinating discussion and topic! Beth Green is taking on delusional and magical thinking this year, starting with how the New Age and New Thought movements actually TEACH magical thinking…that you can create what your ego desires. Is that what we need? More ways to fulfill our egos’ desires? Or do we need to learn to find the magic in facing reality as it is. I am NOT going to be a ballerina if I am disabled, no matter how much positive thinking I engage in. And I don’t need to feel any shame that I have not manifested something that I am not capable of manifesting! On the call this morning, we shared our deeply held delusions and their painful consequences. One example is that I can save my mentally ill daughter or husband with my special love for them. Another is that domination and intimidation will lead to a happy and healthy relationship with my children and that it will teach them to listen.  Join our discussion and share your delusions in a community where it is safe to be real. We welcome your comments.

Racism: Is It In You or In Your World?

racism

On today’s InsideOut Forum Discussion Call we took on the painful topic of racism and all the multitude of ways that we are ALL racist, even if we think we are not. We saw the ways it shows up, even judging the sushi chef’s authenticity if he is not Japanese. We saw how we judge Blacks as better singers. We saw how we tried so hard not to be prejudice openly like our parents or grandparents, but saw how this just sent our judgments and prejudices  underground. InsideOut Forum Discussion Call: The Christmas Challenge: What Do YOU Need & How Will You Give It to Yourself?

BethGreen

On today’s InsideOut Forum Discussion Call we continued the exploration of what we REALLY need this Christmas and how will we give ourselves this gift to ourselves? It was a fascinating exploration of what we need, things like neutrality, self-love, compassion & patience, allowing and surrendering to reality, embracing our strengths and being real. These are powerful gifts and they will help us have a truly sacred holiday if we do, indeed, give them to ourselves. Join us on the blog to add your piece!
