What Place Do You Choose To Call Home?

When you take a good look at yourself in the morning what do you see? Someone who is not thin enough? Not smart enough? Not pretty enough? Why is there always that sense of lacking something? Why can’t we look in the mirror and see the beauty encompassing our being…the radiance within that shines so brightly if we simply allow it to be seen?

You can change your beliefs at any given moment. You can move away from the scarcity mindset into a feeling of gratitude for the abundance in your life simply by focusing on the positive instead of the negative. Deepak says, “Finding a path back to your source is a matter of letting life settle down to where it wants to be. What you seek, you already are.” When you stop looking for change outside of yourself and turn inward and simply allow for the realization of your unique talents and gifts, you unlock your unlimited potential.

Like a present waiting to be unwrapped, that beautiful gift lies dormant inside until you choose to reveal it. Start at the source and seek all the answers from within. Don’t follow someone else’s map. Don’t wait for a miracle. Follow the flow of your awareness. Don’t resist what is ready to manifest inside if only given the chance. Open yourself to the unknown and stop censoring what you intuitively know to be true. Reach beyond yourself and be genuine and speak your truth. The truth will set you free of your ego and self-limiting beliefs. Let the center be your home. According to Deepak Chopra, the next time you see your life from a place of lack, instead you can:

– Say, “This situation may be shaking me, but I am more than any situation.”
– Take a deep breath and focus your attention on whatever your body is feeling.
– Step back and see yourself as another person would see you.
– Realize your emotions are not reliable guides to what is permanent and real. They are momentary reactions, and most likely they are born of habit.

This change of perspective will bring an awareness which allows the fight between good and evil, and us and them to calm down in their clashes to make way for a world in which your beautiful self can emerge…a world you deserve to call home.

You Already Have All You Need To Succeed

What a revelation to know that you already have everything you need to succeed…all just waiting to be accessed deep within your core. Jim Cary was once a struggling actor and he believed in this idea so much that he wrote himself a check for 10 million dollars. A few years later, he was able to cash that check. This shows the power of our beliefs. This is not one random coincidence. We are the creators of our thinking and therefore, we have the power to shift our reality and ultimately, our destiny.
It is only our inaccurate limited beliefs that hold us back in life. When we are able to recognize that these beliefs are actually what prevent us from striving to achieve our dreams, we can discover how simply changing our beliefs can shift the entire course of our journey in life.

Here are 3 steps to shift your thinking today:

1. Examine the areas of your life where you are selling yourself short.

2. Select one are where you desire greater fulfillment.

3. Take action. Pick one simple act a day to start taking to demonstrate your belief in higher expectations for yourself.

There are no mistakes, only life lessons

justdoit

Life is a series of moments in which we are constantly making choices. Choices of varying degrees of significance. Some choices are simple with little consequence and others can be life altering. Some make us feel proud and internally grateful; others can make us feel sad, regretful, and vulnerable.

Keeping an open mind during vulnerable moments in life is not an easy task. It takes courage and discipline to throw away our crutches and habitual ways to face life without any blinders. I’ve been there…I know. It requires a willingness to move beyond ingrained ways of thinking. A willingness to transcend fear, accept the facts as they are, and stand on unfamiliar ground. All choices in life hold a lesson for us.  Making good or bad choices teach us important lessons about ourselves. We learn over time what works and what does not work for us. When things are not working, we have the ability to make new choices and take a new path. It’s never easy to admit you’ve made a mistake, but it’s a crucial step in learning, growing, and improving yourself. Here are 4 steps to help you press on to brighter days:

1. Take some time to experience the emotion the mistake brings.

2. Realize we are all human and mistakes happen. Accept responsibility and forgive yourself.

3. Find the lesson that’s hidden in your current situation. Ask yourself, what can you do differently next time a similar situation arises that led to the mistake?

4. Live and learn. Move forward with integrity and grace. Your past mistakes are meant to guide you, not define you.

Crossroads of Life

an_authentic_life

Have you ever found yourself in a position where all you have worked toward is right in front of you, but instead of a simple black and white decision you are presented with a handful of options? None clear cut. None with reassurance of long term happiness.
This situation embodies one of the most complicated tasks any of us will face in life – the concept of making the right decision. Every few seconds we have the opportunity to change our lives, our careers, our future, and the lives of many others, some of which we will never meet.

You already have the tools to succeed. It’s simply a mindset you need to access at the crossroads of life. Success is right there on the horizon. The question remains, how do you navigate the path ahead?
Here are some keys to weathering life’s crossroads:
1. Have a little faith and trust your gut. We all know, deep within ourselves, what we need to do — what we know, how to think, when to trust — during times of crisis. We can learn to access and trust our innate wisdom; it is personal and always available. When we don’t follow our inner guidance, we feel a loss of power and energy.
2. Move ahead with purpose. Pick one option, commit to it, and get moving with focused intention. Climb that mountain.
3. Take in the scenery. Once you’re moving, you’ll quickly feel whether it’s the right direction for you. Be in the moment and respect the value of being here and now. Allow yourself to feel the feedback that comes from action.
4. Adjust your course accordingly. Evaluate where there is room for improvement. Consider all the factors that led to the consequences and adjust your course and move forward with an increased awareness of how to navigate the path ahead.

Life’s too short to remain stuck. Life is experiential and full of difficult decisions. Every day holds new opportunities to learn and grow. Take life in your own hands and trust all you’ve learned and your inner wisdom. Enjoy the empowerment of traveling new paths and climbing the mountain. Readjust as needed and discover new heights. As W. Clement Stone once said, “Aim for the moon, if you miss it you may hit a star.”

Your Hero’s Journey to Self-Discovery

the-heros-journey

The time has finally come!!! My radio show, Intentional Living, will air Monday, October 12th LIVE at 10 AM EST on VoiceAmerica’s Empowerment Channel. I hope you can listen in. I will be taking live callers and the topic will be Your Hero’s Journey to Self-Discovery. If you cannot listen live, a recording will be available. More details are below for the October 12th episode:

Joseph Campbell said that “The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.” This is the holy grail, the elixir of life, the great bliss we are all seeking – the ability to simply be who we are, no matter whom we’re with or what storm we may be weathering. But this privilege comes at a cost, and one that some of us are unwilling to pay. It comes at the cost of comfort, of security and, sometimes, even of the approval and understanding of those whom we love and care for deeply. In other words, the privilege of being who we are requires that we go on a hero’s journey to discover who we are, and then become willing to embody, express and stand for who we are, no matter what.

In this show, I will be talking with a dear friend and business colleague, Lorna Johnson, who has been through her own powerful hero’s journey (she likes to call it a heroine’s journey) of massive personal and business transformation, which included a very long, very dark night of the soul. I will also be sharing my own journey of awakening, and together we will explore the deep spiritual truths that underlie anyone’s path to self-knowledge and to fully embodying what it means to live with intention.

There will be laughter, and there may even be tears, as we explore the raw, the real and the royal path we both took to self-sovereignty in our lives.

You do not want to miss this first, inaugural episode of Intentional Living!
