The Profound Influence of a Simple Table

As host of my radio show, “Explorations in Consciousness with Dr. Joe” on the 7^th Wave Channel of VoiceAmerica, I often refer to the concepts of Seth, that “energy personality essence” channeled by Jane Roberts from 1963 to her passing over in 1984.  I devoted the first episode of my show to presenting some of Seth’s ideas about past lives with the help of Rich Kendall, one of Jane’s ESP students in the early ‘70s.  On November 5, 2013, another of Jane’s students, Lawrence Davidson, will be my guest.

In early April of this year, I was able to purchase Jane Roberts’ work table on which she wrote some of her own books, accessed her “spiritual library,” painted her sketches, and read proofs of the Seth Books that Seth had dictated through her to Robert Butts, her husband.  The rather non-descript, Ethan Allan table was in her writing room at the “Hill House” in Elmira, New York, and later, after her passing, in the house in Sayre, Pennsylvania, that Rob and his new wife, Laurel Davies-Butts, lived in for a number of years until Rob died in 2008.

Given how many millions of individuals all over the world have read the Seth books, I am profoundly awed that I was the one who was able to attract the table into my psychic field.  Soon, in my Explorations in Consciousness Circle that meets once a month on Thursday evening, the members and I very successfully used the table to practice psychometry and to give readings to each other.  In the picture of the table below, you can see a reproduction on the left of Robert Butts’ portrait of Seth. 

But the table had an even more profound effect on my life.  For on the same day, June 18, 2013, that I received from Laurel by UPS the first half of Jane’s table, I received also a phone call from the Randall Libero, Senior Executive Producer for VoiceAmerica, the largest creator and distributer of internet radio in the world.  I thought with excitement that maybe he wanted to interview me about some aspect of my hypnotherapeutic work.  Well, I was wrong–he wanted me to submit a proposal to host my own radio show once a week for an hour for thirteen weeks!  I was flabbergasted, awed, and, I must admit, a bit scared.  Geez, I would be heard in 32 countries!

Within a week, my proposal was accepted.  Randall said that he had asked his staff to search for potential hosts on the Internet, focusing on spiritual counseling, hypnotherapy, and past-life regression.  I was one of about 12 individuals who had made the final cut out of 300 contenders.  And I knew nothing about any of this (though my soul certainly did) until he called on the 18th. He also told me that what clinched the deal for him was that I said that the Seth Material would serve as the underlying metaphysics for my discussions!

While I had not done much with the table for the last two months, it was getting prepared to do something more with me!  On September 4, Laurel emailed me to tell me, among other things, that the next day was the anniversary of Jane’s passing.  Then she told me that for many years she had placed flowers on the table on that anniversary; each time she did so, she got some kind of message from Jane.  Then she said that if I felt like getting Jane flowers, Jane would probably give me a sign, too.

So, the next day, I bought some lovely, yellow, daisy-like flowers for Jane and also a nearly identical bouquet for my wife, though hers were light purple.  I put each bouquet in a vase with water and a packet of that “stay-fresh” stuff.  I placed Jane’s flowers on her table in my group room, as you can see below, and for the next 6 days was so busy that I forgot about them.  

Then, six days later, I was telling a new client about the table and took her back to the group room, where Jane’s table resides, and where part of the room serves as a waiting space for clients.   As I was leading her to the table, I thought to myself that I should now get rid of the flowers, for the ones that I had given my wife were completely drooping and just about dead.  Well, when I looked closely at the flowers, I was stunned–Jane’s flowers were as fresh as the day I had bought them.  While waiting for me in that space two hours earlier, my client had noticed them and thought they were plastic because they were so “perfect.”  Below is a picture of the two bouquets set side by side on the table after six days.  Guess which one is Jane’s! 

 I guess Jane did send a signal!

I just checked her flowers again on September 18, 13 days after they were put on the table.   Only now are a few leaves starting to wilt.  So, had Jane finished her message to me…or did I upset the energetic pattern by adding water yesterday to the vase for the first time in almost two weeks?  My adding the water was the result of my belief–probably very limiting–that I should help keep them going because I did not think that they could have survived for longer on their own.  Maybe another part of the message from Jane was for me to keep even more alert to the emergence of my negative beliefs!
