Do you know what Chanukah, Passover and Shabbat are?  Whether or not you do, you’ll have a blast watching Mama Doni in this very fun three-episode Holiday Party DVD.

This DVD is great for when you want to celebrate a Jewish holiday but you don’t know how. Doni tells you everything you need to know about getting into the holiday spirit – the Jewish Holiday Spirit, as she takes you through the Winter Holiday of Chanukah, the spring holiday of Passover and the weekly holiday of Shabbat.

The main character, of course, is Mama Doni. She has many friends, young and old, that pop in throughout the show.  But she is the star!  We learn about all three holidays thru some new takes on old Jewish songs as well as some new songs.  They are all upbeat and fun to listen to.  She also tells many great stories as she guides us through her kitchen and shares some wonderful recipes on classic dishes like latkes, challah bread and a new one I wouldn’t call an old classic but something that I sure want to try – matzo pizza!

My 8-year-old sister and I were so inspired that we made the Challah Bread and the Latkes right away.  They were both very delicious!

I like the lighting and how it compliments Mama Doni’s face.  She is such an energetic and appealing host. With all the movement going on, the camera man does a great job by giving us clear and steady shots. I also enjoyed the editing because it isn’t too fast or too slow and I like seeing Mama Doni in different settings and outfits.

I think what this film teaches families is that celebrating holidays is fun even if it is not your practiced religion.  I’d even say these three episodes have nothing to do with religion at all as it celebrates the Jewish Culture and not whose God you believe in.

I give this show 5 out of 5 stars because it is lively and there is never a dull moment.

I think this film is appropriate for all ages because you can watch these three episodes and learn new interesting stuff with your family that you have never experienced before.

Mama Doni’s Jewish Holiday Party is available on DVD.

“The Hunters” Puts An Exciting Spin On The Classic “Snow White” Story

The Hunters is a modern day fairy tale adventure, based on the magical mirror from “Snow White,” and follows the brothers Flynn as they embark on an international quest to find their parents and save the world from the clutches of evil.  KIDS FIRST! Film Critic Gerry O says, “The Hunters” is a great and thrilling movie for everyone! There is comedy, romance, action, adventure, thrilling scenes, a great and engaging story line and, of course, a puzzle to solve!” The Hunters is the fifth world premier film in Hallmark Channel’s new Friday night movie series, “Walden Family Theatre,” airing this Friday, October 25th at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel. From the title, it’s really hard to predict what the movie will be about. Based on the title, I had an open mind. I only have one thing to say, I was pleasantly surprised! “The Hunters” is a great and thrilling movie for everyone!

I absolutely love how many things there is in this film! There is comedy, romance, action, adventure, thrilling scenes, a great and engaging story line and, of course, a puzzle to solve!

The adventure begins when three people are looking for some artifacts to build together a legendary item. When one turns on the others, everything goes wrong. The two kids of the couple who are searching for this item and their friend, go on a epic adventure to save the world and their parents!  If you want to find out if their parents are ok and if they were successful in this quest, you have to watch the film!

This film brings so many perks! It has especially great actors and the directing is also very good. The camerawork will impress you for sure – there are so many actions –  climbing and jumping and even some scary stuff. But, the picture if very clear and the storyline easy to follow!

I have to say that my favorite scene is when the older brother discovers his little brother has skipped school and he is very mad at him. I can greatly appreciate this scene. It has brotherly “love” or as I call it “bromance.” It’s extremely funny and will hit home with many viewers.

I recommend this movie to ages 8-18, because it is a very intense film. I also give it 5 out of 5 stars and wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually turn this movie into series. I know I will be watching out for that.

“Tom and Jerry’s Giant Adventure” – A Unique Film Filled with Surprises BY KIDS FIRST! Coming Attractions

“Tom and Jerry’s Giant Adventure” – A Unique Film Filled with Surprises BY KIDS FIRST! Coming Attractions

Who among us doesn’t secretly love watching Tom and Jerry, the classic cartoon characters that we’ve lived with since forever. Warner has created a new original movie, that finds our characters among the last animals living in StorybookTown, a fairy tale-inspired theme park “where dreams come true, if you believe.” Jack is desperate to save the park from the hands of a greedy billionaire, setting out with his loyal cat and mouse friends to sell his prize cow for… some magic beans?! What follows is a journey up a beanstalk to a magical land ruled by a massively mean and hungry giant, and home to fun, fabled fellows like Droopy, Spike and even a golden goose! KIDS FIRST! Film Critic Gerry O comments, “This story is very different from the usual Tom and Jerry movies and definitely brings fresh air into this unique relationship between a mouse and a cat.” See his full review below.

I thought I knew what this movie would be about. I mean, what person doesn’t know who Tom and Jerry and their story are? Lady owns a mouse and a cat, and these two adorable creatures fight nonstop with each other, until they get in a big problem, right? Wrong! “Tom and Jerry’s Giant Adventure original movie” is a fun and adorable adventure for the whole family!

The moment I turned on my TV to watch this move, I could see this would be a unique Tom and Jerry film. It has, of course – comedy, adventure, thrilling action and many more things all in one film! This movie surprises you with a story of a mouse and a cat who at the end are best friends despite their differences!

The fun story begins when a young man wants to open an amusement park. The day it opens he meets a girl and falls in love with her. Years later the park gets run down and there’s only a cat, a mouse and a cow left. The man passed away and left behind his son and wife. A man is going to destroy the park but instead, something very surprising happens when Jack, the son, goes to sell the cow.

The movie is very entertaining and funny. The voice actors do a fantastic job of making you relate to their characters. If there is one thing to criticize is the fact that this animated movie feels a little rushed. This story is very different from the usual Tom and Jerry movies and definitely brings fresh air into this unique relationship between a mouse and a cat.

My favorite scene is when the animals realize that they are losing their home and Jack sings a song to make them feel better. It’s very catchy, and fun!

Since this film is very child friendly and educational, I recommend it for ages 3 to 18. I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars because it is a tiny bit rushed and may be a bit confusing for younger kids because of that.
