Kindness and Caring plus Nickelodeon’s Ella Anderson By Cynthia Brian

Mother-Teresa

“Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.”

As we celebrate the 104th birthday of Mother Teresa, it’s appropriate to broadcast a program that focuses on the wisdom of kindness.  Hosts Henna Hundal and Asya Gonzalez with reporter Ryan Sim serve up simple ways to show you care such as

·  Compliment three people.

·  Write a hand-written note.

·  Say good morning to everyone.

·  Pick up litter.

·  Place uplifting notes in library books, on restroom mirrors, on someone’s locker, or on their computer screen.

·  Dedicate 24 hours to spreading positivity on social media.

·  Hold up inspiring signs during rush hour.

·  Leave a generous tip.

·  Send flowers to a friend.

.Cook dinner for your family.

.Help a friend move or clean.

.Volunteer at a convalescent hospital

.Pamper yourself!

Read uplifting, inspiring books, a short chapter at a time such as Be the Star You Are!® 99 Gifts for Living, Loving, Laughing, and Learning to Make a Difference, or Be the Star You Are!® for TEENS.

After a healthy dose of opportunities for acts of kindness, Henna and Asya interview ten-year-old actress, Ella Anderson, starring as Piper in the Nickelodeon series, Henry Danger. Ella began acting professionally at age five and has worked with Kurt Russell, James Franco, Vince Vaughn, and more. Her two dogs keep her kind and grounded.

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”  Mother Teresa

Henna Hundal-6-14

Two energetic and enthusiastic young ladies, Henna Hundal and Asya Gonzalez star in this one hour program highlighting exciting summer activities. Henna broadcasts from the campus of UC Davis where she is enrolled in a fascinating scientific program.  Asya shares her love of Pinterest and the fascinating projects she has gleaned from the site that she encourages anyone to try. The teens discuss making homemade ice cream, lemonade stands, creative businesses, and fun adventures that cost nothing to very little. The sedentary lifestyle of kids and the ubiquitous use of technology is leading to obesity, diabetes, and other diseases and our girls are adamant about changing that scene. They advocate getting up, getting out, and getting active. Ride bikes, hike, walk, run, throw Frisbees, swim, surf, skate!

Express Yourself Teens Talk Discuss Kids in the Kitchen By Cynthia Brian

Super Bowl BBQ

Everyone has to eat, but not everyone knows how to cook. Hosts Youngjoo Ahn and Asya Gonzalez are kids in the kitchen as they interview a young baker/candle maker, LAFD firefighter/cook, and Health Beat Reporter, Nicole Eubanks. Nicole admits to always being starving when she gets home from school and dishes up simple ways to cook up batches of nutritious, delicious foods to have ready to munch. Asya’s youngest brother, Nolan, loves to bake and prefers to be in the kitchen making his Chum Bucket Candles or baking cookies instead of being on the radio talking about cooking. It’s a tasty show and you’ll be hungry. Time to cook up some fun and channel your inner chef.  Listen at VoiceAmerica and Express Yourself! Teen Radio.

Express Yourself Teens Talk Discuss “Heroes Amongst Us!”

Anita-1

The word “hero” conjures up images of daring, real-life superheroes putting themselves in harms way for the protection of innocent bystanders or civilians. Todays programs honors the everyday heroes living amongst us. Can you imagine living through the Holocaust? Survivor of the horrendous Nazi death camps of World War II, Anita Schorr, shares her stories with our hosts Youngjoo Ahn and Henna Hundal as she advocates the importance of standing up to injustice, not tolerating bullying, or abuse.

Anita’s experience is chronicled in the book, Be a Hero, Anita’s Piano by Marion Stahl. Techie Talks reporter Caiseen Kelley encourages girls to be leaders in science and technology with her report on how women are breaking the barriers. In Health with Henna, you’re given the power to be a hero of your own health, a hero for yourself, a hero who honors your own body by making smart and healthy lifestyle choices. As Anita Schorr states, “Step in. Don’t stay silent. Speak out. Be a Hero”  Listen now at Voice America and Express Yourself! Teen Radio.

Express Yourself Teens Talk Discuss “Ways to Show You Care” By Cynthia Brian

Helping HandsA common thread with the teens of Be the Star You Are!® and Express Yourself!™ Teen Radio is that they CARE-for themselves, for each other, and for total strangers. Co-hosts Alex Lee and Henna Hundal along with reporters Katelyn Darrow and Asya Gonzalex offer numerous tips on how everyone can show kindness every day in small ways. In the Giving of Giving, Katelyn gets excited about “Angel Deeds”, doing special things anonymously “just because”.

Social Responsibiity Reporter, Asya Gonzalez is passionate about visiting nursing homes to give the elderly a listening ear. In Health with Henna, Henna Hundal shares research on the benefits to oneself for being a caring, compassionate, kind individual. Great tips on how to write special encouraging notes, be fair and considerate in on-line conversations, and ways to volunteer with organizations that help you step out of yourself and into another’s shoes. The paradox of life is that the more we care for others, the more we care for ourselves.  Like happiness, kindness is a choice. Pay it Forward

Express Yourself Teens Talk Discuss “Celebrating Cultural Diversity” with Cynthia Brian

CultureWhat is cultural diversity and how do you define it? Co-hosts Youngjoo Ahn and Ryan Sim explore the multicultural experience through Ryan’s Global Youth Talk report based on data analysis of the multicultural map of the world. The teens engage in an exciting interview with international best selling prolific YA Seventeen Magazine Summer Club author, Amalie Howard who grew up on the Caribbean island of Trinidad, lived in five other countries, and travels the world searching for stories.  Amalie discusses her newest novel Alpha Goddess as well as her other books, all with a global influence of integrated cultures. In Health with Henna, Henna Hundal reveals that when a person’s sense of human dignity is violated, there are physiological consequences, especially in the teen years. Embrace the cultural diversity around us and celebrate all cultures on the planet. By enjoying our differences we realize our sameness. We are all one. Rejoice!
