Hosts Asya Gonzalez and Maria Wong read the chapters on friendship from Cynthia Brian’s book, Be the Star You Are!® for Teens by Erica Miner and also Cynthia’s chapter from Be the Star You Are!® 99 Gifts for Living, Loving, Laughing, and Learning to Make a Difference recounting her life-long friendship with an Irish penpal (Buy books at www.StarStyleRadio.com/store) A discussion on the importance of friendship and how to be a friend ensues. In segment two and three, author of Young Knight’s of the Round Table, King’s Ransom, Cheryl Carpinello discusses her book and the themes of friendship and loyalty. The book focuses on three friends, three quests, and three mysterious predictions. Kids love Arthurian tales and her books show the importance of having a friend. (http://www.cherylcarpinello.com)Having moved to three different high schools in three different states, Asya advises to smile, look for friendly faces, be nice, and put yourself out there to find a friend. Maria suggests being open, be interested in other people, and be friendly.  Both hosts agree that we spend way too much on social media instead of face-to-face relationships. “Earn a friend by being a friend” Cynthia Brian

Cheryl Carpinello is a retired high school English teacher. A devourer of books growing up, her profession introduced her to writings and authors from times long past. Through her studies and teaching, Cheryl fell in love with the Ancient and Medieval Worlds. She hopes to inspire young readers and those Young-at-Heart to read more through her Quest Books set in these worlds. http://www.cherylcarpinello.com

King Arthur: Not a Myth! By Dr. Paula Joyce

Graham Phillips has been one of Britain’s bestselling non-fiction authors for over twenty years. In the 1980’s, after working as a radio journalist and broadcaster for the BBC and editing a popular monthly magazine, Graham turned his talents to investigating unsolved historical mysteries. He has since written 13 books which are in print around the world and have been published in many different languages. They include The Templars and the Ark of the Covenant, Merlin and the Discovery of Avalon in the New World, The Chalice of Magdalene, and the End of Eden.  His newest book is The Lost Tomb of King Arthur: The Search for Camelot and the Isle of Avalon. His hands-on approach to his research has caused him to be described as an historical detective, a modern-day adventurer and a real-life Indiana Jones. He lives in England. Please visit him at www.grahamphillips.net
Camelot was the first play I ever saw. I still remember the magic of that experience. It led to a life-long fascination with King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, The Knights of the Round Table and, of course, Merlin. This interest even carried into the next generation with my oldest daughter’s love of the Arthurian legend. When I opened the email with Inner Traditions’ latest publications, I was delighted to discover that these people and places were actually real. It was a bit like a childhood fantasy coming to life. If part or all of the Legend of King Arthur is real, then maybe other fanciful beliefs that we think are myths, are actually real. It opens one’s imagination to possibilities, even the possibility of miracles that are not so much miracles as they are every day occurrences–depending on your belief system. Please join us Thursday for a fascinating journey into the discovery of King Arthur as an authentic British King, Camelot as a real place and Excalibur as a real sword.
