Things We Don’t Talk About: ‘The Irritable Male Syndrome’

irritable male syndrome

Ever wonder why all we hear about is the anger and depression and irritation that women exhibit – especially at that time of the month? In a culture where ‘men aren’t supposed to cry,’ male depression, anxiety, and physical health challenges are often expressed in unconventional and difficult-to-recognize ways.

According to Jed Diamond – men suffer from hormone related irritability as much as women.  Depression, anger, fatigue, moodiness, anxiety, lethargy, low libido, and confusion are just some of the symptoms of a recently identified condition that affects men.

Diamond believes IMS (Irritable Male Syndrome) is in some ways similar to male menopause, but it can affect men of all ages. What often triggers IMS is acute or chronic stress.  Diamond will describe the symptoms of IMS; and explain how the volatile mood swings of the syndrome can wreak havoc in a man’s closest relationships.

Tune in Thursday 9 am PT to Holy Hormones Honey where Leslie Carol Botha discusses male hormones with Jed Diamond.
