Bob Sima: Picking Up Where John Lennon Left Off

bob Sima 250

Bob Sima is to music what Wayne Dyer, Don Miguel Ruiz, and Eckhart Tolle are to books and Rumi, Hafiz, and David Whyte are to poetry. He has been called “Eckhart Tolle with a guitar.” He is a “Transformational Troubadour,” a way-shower, a guide, an awakener, and a musical mystic. Through the medium of melody and message, he leads listeners to an expanded consciousness, deeper sense of connection, and inner peace and purpose. His music bridges daily life and soul consciousness, the eternal with the now. He delivers instantly accessible songs that take up residence and resonance in your soul. Don’t miss this episode of The Self Improvement Show. And, yes, we WILL play some of his amazing music.

Crystal Bowl Angelic 444 Toning

Crystal Bowl

The 444 Toning is a wonderful sound experience allowing you to be immersed in the beautiful sounds of crystal bowls and the warm singing of Om with the angels.

Learn a little about how this was taught to us by Archangel Chamuel and what this particular type of chanting can do for you. Enjoy the space with us and legions of Angels as they join in.

In the second half of the evening Holly will be channeling one or more of the Archangels from the Angelic realm. This is normally Archangel Chamuel or Michael, but we are always open to whichever archangel would like to share! Then they (the angels) open the floor to questions from the audience.

About Laurie Berkner
Laurie Berkner has been a professional musician since 1992, but her success as a children’s recording artist and innovator in the “kindie rock” genre was a surprise to her. “The more I started working on material for children,” she explains, “the more I realized that it opened up creativity in me that I never knew I had.” Laurie’s childhood in Princeton, NJ and her college time at Rutgers University was filled with musical activities, including choirs, bands, and musical theater. She worked as a children’s music specialist before becoming a recording artist. Her music was featured on the popular preschool show Jack’s Big Music Show. Laurie’s music is the focus of a short-form animated series Sing It, Laurie! Seven albums of music, four children’s books, and an off-Broadway musical called Wanda’s Monster round out her career to date. Her latest album, Lullabies, was released in May. The Laurie Berkner Band also includes Susie Lampert, Brady Rymer, and Bob Golden.

Every new mother hears that breast is best. Many decide to breastfeed so their baby has the best. But soon after birth, the days are often fraught with sleep deprivation and conflicting messages from peers, family members, and health care professionals. Later, negative messages from the media and critical comments from family members and others may trigger mothers to question their decision. Feelings of inadequacy, intimidation and societal pressure to wean can cause mothers to give up breastfeeding before meeting their goals. The aim of this show is to empower parents to overcome the barriers that keep them from beginning or continuing to breastfeed. Through discussion of hospital practices, milk supply, medications, returning to work, milk storage options, and more, this show will provide an informed and supportive voice for new families and established families, so that they can take charge of their breastfeeding experience from conception through weaning.

Yes, You Are Creative By Paula Joyce

creativeThere is a creative intelligence within you that has been imprisoned since childhood, sentenced to a maximum security prison for the crime of self-expression. It’s desperate to break out from behind the four electronic doors that keep it hidden from you and the world.

The lock down began in your family when you first heard messages like: color within the lines; grass isn’t orange; people don’t have blue faces. Then there was the hysteria that ensued when you thought the living room wall would make a great canvas. Or maybe your sibling or parent was the real artist. You were supposed to hide your talent so they could shine.

The second door was locked by your teachers. In the process of helping you become a real artist, they taught you that you were no good. There was a right way to do it, and if you couldn’t or wouldn’t do it that way, you were no good. The so-called “best” pictures were put on display and held up as examples for everyone to honor. The rest of the students were the “have not’s.” They were made to feel bad about their work through benign neglect or direct criticism.

Our society shut the third door. It tells us what good art, music, writing, acting, or dancing is. There’s legitimate theater, experimental dance, fine arts versus arts and crafts. Then we have the critics who make sure we don’t color out of the lines or dance in the aisles.

Finally, we locked the last door on ourselves. Creating became a high risk venture. Fear of criticism coupled with self-doubt separated us from our own creativity. It was much safer to be the audience than the creator. Now we love going to concerts, seeing plays, attending art openings. We try desperately to feed the artist within ourselves through viewing and critiquing someone else’s art, all the while knowing that we are hiding. Like Rip Van Winkle, everyone thinks your artist is dead. In fact, it’s pacing incessantly inside a tiny cell, waiting desperately for an opportunity to escape.

Today is that day. The guards are so sure you’ll never have the courage to escape that they’re all playing cards in the coffee break room. Their music and chatter are so loud that they’ll never hear the electronic doors or your footsteps. Your job is easy. You just have to push the button to open each door and walk out into the freedom of self-expression and artistic creativity.

What has this article motivated you do? I’d love to hear from you about the steps that you are taking or questions about how to take that first or next step.
