As we pay attention to the atrocities of wildlife cullings from around the world in Africa and Asia, we must take a step back and realize we have our own wildlife ecosystems to protect right here at home. We will touch base on the barbaric practices of overkilling our wildlife, especially the carnivores – coyotes, wolves, bobcats, and other animals under the mantel of managing human-carnivore conflict. Tune in to Our Wild World Talk Radio!!
So many critical efforts are happening right now! The CITES meeting in Bangkok, Thailand may well decide the future for elephants and rhinos around the world. The US. Wildlife Services are under fire for unethical killing of our wildlife- both endangered and non-targeted species. The USFW is working hard to keep up with the Environmental Protection Act and government policies, and we are facing global biodiversity tipping points everywhere we look. Our policies and politics and our everday choices do make a difference, both here at home and around the world. Despite all this, there is Hope, and itâs right beneath our feet – we just need to focus by each of us taking some small actions in our everyday lives to protect the future that our ancestors left to us and which we will leave to our children.
Wouldnât it be great if todayâs headlines were : Itâs okay. We can all come out now! the Extinction and Global crises are over, and Weâve Won! We donât have to worry about environmental collapse or losing our polar bears and elephants, and our world turning into one big corporate machine, because humanity came to its senses the other day – we all pulled together and turned our wild world around! Each of us one day said to the other, well⦠hereâs what I did today, and Iâm going to do it every day from now on, and it caught on.
Economics play a huge part in illegal wildlife trade. When we understand how macroeconomics influence pricing and multi commodity ‘black market’ trade in illicit wildlife ‘products’- such as ivory and rhino horn, we have a better understand of how to shift our focus and efforts toward systematic wide shifts and change in combatting illegal wildlife crime and trade in wildlife and natural resources. Join Eli Weiss this Monday with long time guest on Our Wild World Talk Radio Show and Lion conservationist, Dr. Pieter Kat with Lion Aid. On Nov 7th at 8 a.m. PT, Tune In as we discuss the #illegaltrade in endangered species more specifically #Lions. As time goes on we all notice and realize more and more that it is all about money and the politics within the realm of the Canned Hunting industry are becoming even more corrupt. But the ultimate price, will be the loss of the very definition of âwildnessâ. In the illegal wildlife trade, the fact that the value of an animal is only tallied upon its worth as a carcass or its parts shows that money will win the day.
