This blog considers the increase in suicide rate across all age groups in the United States. With this in mind, it considers a recent study reported in The British Medical Journal that identified two risk factors that are often overlooked. These include the loss of a friend to suicide and the impact of social stigma on increasing suicide risk. Discussion and strategies for prevention and intervention are offered.
