Holiday With Kids – How To Make The Holiday Exciting

The holiday season is a very special time for families around the world. It is the time when you get the chance to meet your friends and families and celebrate the festive season with them. The festive season is on its way and it is wise to start making plans and preparation early so that you can have the best and stress-free holidays with your family.

If you are planning a trip to one of the fantastic Inverness hotels you will have a long trip ahead of you. Here are some tips to make the journey more fun.

Packing

Packing the car for a holiday can feel like a chore. However, it does not need to feel like it. First, you should consider using soft bags since they are easy to squish into a packed vehicle. Do not forget to check accommodations beforehand so that you can carry essentials.  If you are traveling with a child (maximum 6 years), consider a travel stroller. They come in handy since they cannot walk for long.

Electronics

It is highly important to keep kids entertained on long journeys. You may hate your kids staring at the screen all day, but there are exceptions, like while traveling.

Music

Music makes a huge difference and plays a role in the overall entertainment. When it comes to music, you have to pick something that appeals to the whole family (not unless you are planning to use headphones).

Books

Books can help enhance the appeal of the whole trip. There are many types of books for all ages. For example, if you have young kids, consider having coloring books and other child geared books. For teenagers, you can consider magazines, comics, and others.

Backpacks

While on holiday, it is wise to consider letting your child pick their activity pack. For example, a child can do a lot with blank paper and colored crayons. In other words, consider what your kids are carrying for the trip. It is not wise to include sharp things.

Traveling Game

Ever since traveling became a thing, many traveling games have been created. Good examples are the Volkswagen Zap, I Spy, Twenty Questions, I’m Going On A Camping Trips and others. There are plenty of board games like Bingo, snakes, and ladders, crosswords, etc. These games are what make or create memorable moments in a road trip.

Snacks

When traveling, it is wise to consider your snacks options. The sad truth is that snacks tend to make a vehicle messy, but they are worth it. For this reason, consider healthier snacks such as grapes, cheese cubes, crackers, cereals, and others. To prevent the mess, consider carrying a rubbish bag rather than littering in the vehicle.

Bribes

By mentioning the word bribe, it makes people curious and shocked at the same time. However, when it comes to bribing our young ones, there is a way to do it correctly. In other words, the key to a bribe is using them sparingly and when there is an immediate reward, like promising sweets and magazines at the end of a trip.

Surprises

We all love surprises. They help shake things up. While traveling, consider purchasing a gift that you can surprise them with. Taking this small action will make a huge difference in the whole traveling experience.

Never forget wipes

Wipes come in handy when you are traveling or going on holiday with your kids. For this reason, you can never have too many wipes. These are useful for wiping off sticky hands before and after a snack. It can be used to clean other areas like spills.

Frequent Stops

Travelling, especially using a vehicle can be tiresome. This is why scheduling frequent stops can make a huge difference, especially for your kids. Take full advantage of rest stops and kids playing parks along the way. A little break will go a long way in making things easier for your kids.

The True Environmental Impact of Electric Scooters

The True Environmental Impact of Electric Scooters

Are you considering switching to electric scooters? Or perhaps, you’ve already purchased one, but now the news articles claim you’ve made a wrong decision? Do you find yourself torn apart between the pros and cons of electric scooters? They’ll make your life easier, sure. But what about others? What about the environmental impact? Is your electric scooter contributing positively or negatively?

Well, today, that’s what we are going to talk about. Or more accurately, that is exactly what we are going to study to unveil the truth ourselves.

So, let’s get straight into it!

Some Interesting Stats

Before we head on to the real deal, let us first evaluate the popularity and general public feedback about the electric scooters.

In 2018, they already sold about five million electric scooters.

The collective sales of bicycles & electric scooters will rise to 50 million units by 2021.

We expect the motorcycle and eScooter market to generate 13 864.0 million dollars by 2025.

By 2030, the increased demand will generate further profits, and the market will be worth 41.98 billion dollars.

E-Scooter apps are witnessing a boom as several new buyers of electric scooters download the supporting apps. The download rate of Bird and Lime apps alone increased by 580% during January – July back in 2019.

These statistics indicate that the electric scooters are here to stay (definitely for a reason). The engineers and scientists out there have done their share of research before sharing the technology with the world. And its increasing popularity is enough evidence of its positive impact. Regardless, let’s assess this reasoning process ourselves.

Composition of an E-Scooter

Now, let us break down the science and impact of electric scooters ourselves.

To begin with, consider the size of an electric scooter. It is only a tiny fraction of a car. Generally, a car weighs around 1.4 tonnes, and an SUV may even weigh two tonnes. On the contrary, an electric scooter weighs only 7 Kilograms. True, there are electric scooters that weigh up to 70 Kg. However, these are less popular models. Companies are focusing on manufacturing lightweight models that require less fuel to be powered.

Similarly, evident by the name, electric scooters are driven by batteries, which promise a longer lifespan of the vehicle and efficient operation with minimal fuel consumption. The key is to opt for premium quality electric scooters that come equipped with high-quality motors rather than the ones that operate on cheap batteries.

What’s more, most electric scooters and bicycles get manufactured from aluminum alloy. Although aluminum itself is challenging to extract, it is a recyclable material. Recycling aluminum saves on energy costs by 95 percent, which also makes the final product much more budget-friendly.

Some companies may also incorporate components made from steel, but that’s fine too since steel is also recyclable. However, be wary of extraordinarily cheap models as they involve the use of plastic, which is not eco-friendly.

What are Green Electric Scooters?

Okay, we now know about the growing popularity of green electric scooters and the composition of a single scooter. But, the question arises: what is truly green about these electric scooters? What aspects primarily make them green electric scooters?

Well, perhaps it’s the very fact that electric scooters do not produce any harmful carbon emissions, unlike petrol and diesel in cars. An average car produces about 650 grams of carbon dioxide for every kilometer that it travels. And these emissions account for about 28 percent of the total greenhouse gas emissions. On the contrary, an electric scooter produces only about 65 grams of carbon emissions. A rental scooter may produce about 202 grams. So, technically, that’s a major 90 percent cut down on pollution production. Moreover, electric scooters do not waste valuable non-renewable resources.

Personal E-Scooters VS Rental E-Scooters

Before we sign off, let us put another great debate to an end. Often, people find themselves stuck between owning an eScooter of their own and renting one out. The pain-point here is: what is more beneficial for the environment?

Over time, studies and surveys have proved that public transport causes much less damage to the environment than private transport. However, the case is quite the opposite when it comes to electric scooters.

Owning an electric scooter cuts down the maintenance needs even if it is used intensively. In a rental scooter, there’s a high need for constant maintenance, which negatively impacts the environment. So, yes, owning an electric scooter is three times friendlier for the environment.

Although the creation of more units will demand more raw materials from the environment, the low running costs, extensive durability, and low pollution rates even it out in the long run. It may help the Earth last longer!

What Reopening to Tourists Looks like Around the World

The Coronavirus pandemic gave a whole 180° turn to live. Everything stopped instantly like education, work, or traveling. Individuals were stuck at homes. Not being able to travel made people more anxious and stressed, and there was no chance they could get away from their homes.  In the interim, all they wished was to spend safe vacations on their preferred spot, however, it was not possible due to quickly spreading COVID-19.

Step-by-step the cases started diminishing, and the administrations around the world began to remove the ban on visiting tourist locations. At long last, tourists and newly-married couples are permitted to go around exploring their favorite destinations. How could the travelers hold up after receiving such incredible news? So they hurriedly picked their destinations, booked their flights, packed their gears, and waited for take-off!

The majority of the nations’ previously restored the travel industry in their nations, while a few governments have not yet removed the travel ban.

Reopening of Travel Ban Restrictions Globally

The European Union proclaimed to facilitate the COVID-19 lockdown quantifies and permits vacationers from fifteen nations to visit Europe from the 1st of July, 2020.

Spain

Out of the considerable number of nations, the temporary travel ban in Spain was the hardest among Europe, as around 84 million individuals visited the nation a year ago. Visitors started visiting Spain after the ban was lifted on 21st June, 2020

Anybody entering Spain has to complete a health form and provide a negative COVID-19 PCR result taken within 72 hours of arrival in Spain

Greece

One of the most excellent and frequently visited destinations, Greece, is open for all the global vacationers from the 1st of July, 2020. Individuals from everywhere throughout the world can see rugged mountains, lush forests, silent lakes, crystal-clear waters, green valleys, and lovely beaches of Greece with no travel limitations keeping a certain standard working methodology.

Visitors from all countries are required to provide negative PCR tests taken up to 72 hours prior to traveling. They are also required to self-isolate themselves for 7 days upon arrival.

Bali

Around 5 million international travelers visit Bali Island each year. The Coronavirus pandemic destroyed all the new plans of 2021. However, Bali which is the favorite destination of all tourists is still closed for tourists. So, all the tourists planning their trip to the Indonesian Island can plan their trips to some other places.

France

France is every tourist’s favorite location and was the most visited one preceding COVID-19. The celebrated nation was not open to remote travelers until July. Shockingly, the vacationers from France and from everywhere throughout the globe will be permitted to visit France and appreciate the prettiest views completely by August. However, as of January 31, France has banned all travel except essential travel by European Union. All allowed visitors still have to provide negative corona result upon arrival.

Nonetheless, Europe permitted sightseers from chosen nations to visit and travel with no limitations.

Germany

The nation known for its brilliant engineering and old locales is presently inviting travelers with both of its hands. The state still has travel limitations for vacationers from more than 31 distinct nations. Germany has released a list of countries approved for entry but only if there is an urgent need for a visit. Testing and self-isolation are required for entry.

Italy

Italy is permitting travelers from Europe for essential travel but not for tourism to visit the nation after calculated risks. Travelers from certain countries are still banned but others allowed must provide a negative PCR result.

Croatia

Croatia, the spot known for its Mediterranean islands, sapphire waters, rich urban culture, and area of the famous Game of Thrones was visited by 20 million vacationers in 2018. The nation has empowered the travel industry since December. Consequently, travelers are allowed to appreciate the live views of this tasteful nation.

Turkey

Turkey lies in Asia and Europe and gets sightseers from both of these zones all year. The nation could not avoid opening the travel industry, so the administration opened the outskirts for people from June, 2020. Recently, Turkey has banned all travelers from UK, Brazil, Denmark, and South Africa due to new Covid variant cases

Egypt

Without a doubt, travel bans hugely affected Egypt and its economy. The state is one of the quickest developing travel industry destinations on the planet. Along these lines, the travelers made some hard memories of not going to Egypt for this long. Be that as it may, the administration chose to permit individuals to visit the nation step by step in June and July, 2020.

Maldives

The Maldives is famous for luxurious honeymoon resorts and has been recognized as one of the best honeymoon destinations for 2022. Tourists visit the Maldives every year to enjoy and relax in the beautiful resorts surrounded by blue ocean views. Around 1.7 million individuals visited the Maldives in 2019, and the country is expecting 2 million tourists in 2021/22.

However, COVID-19 had an alternate arrangement. The legislature lifted the movement boycott for global sightseers in July 2020. Presently, all the travelers exhausted from the lockdown routine can spend an excursion adjacent to the tranquil expanses of the Maldives.

International visitors must show proof of negative PCR results taken with 96 hours.

Mexico

Mexico additionally opened the travel industry area astute, and till the 15th of June, 2020 all the sightseers were allowed to spend excursions in the nation.

Dubai

Dubai has stunning touring attractions alongside the best shopping centers that make it a one-stop-shop for the voyaging needs of vacationers. Thus, the notable city opened its fringes for the tourists on the 7th of July, 2020

To enter Dubai and Abu Dhabi, all the visitors are required to provide negative corona PCR results.

Final Thoughts

The vast majority of the states are evacuating travel limitations bit by bit. The vast majority of the states are removing travel restrictions gradually. What could make the tourists happier than this? If you wish to spend vacations in any of these countries, then book your tickets now.

Life on the Ledge – It’s a Matter of Perspective

mountain goatAs our flight lifted off from the helicopter terminal near Smithers, British Columbia, I watched the ground recede out the window near my feet. Having called “dibs” I was happily strapped into the co-pilot seat on the left front side of the bird. Shya sat in back with two other passengers who were also en route to the Babine River for a week of steelhead fishing. As suggested by the pilot, we all donned headsets and positioned the microphones close to our mouths so that we could communicate with each other during the twenty-minute flight. The headsets crackled to life, hissing and popping with voice-activated static as I said, “I hope to see some sheep this time.”

This was our third trip to the Babine River and in previous years, others who had made the flight had reported seeing bighorn sheep and other wildlife.

Shya chimed in. “Or moose or a bear.”

“Yes, something.” I replied.

The sky was blue with the wisps of cloud and it was smooth sailing. As we crested the mountains at 6500 feet the pilot spoke up.

“There,” he said as he pointed to a white speck on his right. “It’s a mountain goat.”

As we closed the distance, the nanny goat came into focus and I saw that the animal had been resting, legs folded under her on the edge of the peak. Hearing and seeing us coming she climbed to her feet and surveyed her options – move down the mountain with the somewhat gentle slope at her back or step off the other side, straight down the sheer cliff face. Without hesitation that goat stepped off into thin air, landing on a tiny, and to my eye, imperceptible ledge below her. It was a lazy move, unhurried as if she were stepping off the curb of a sidewalk. I suppose for her it was as normal as it is for me to cross a street.

As we flew on and she became a distant speck once again, my mind danced back to an experience I once had in New York City. Shya and I had been waiting to cross the street in front of Bloomingdale’s on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. While waiting for the light, we stood with our toes dangling off the edge of the curb. It was a comfortable moment and we were at ease in ourselves. And then Shya had a thought and said to me, “Ariel, look down and see our toes.” I did as he suggested, curious but not seeing what in particular he was directing me to look at.

“No big deal right?” he said.

“Yup.” I replied.

“But imagine that we were 10 stories up or perhaps 50. Our legs would be no less capable. We would be no less stable, but we’d likely find it quite frightening. The apparency of danger would stimulate wobbly knees and an adrenaline rush!”

Closing my eyes it wasn’t hard to imagine standing high up over the street with my toes hanging over the edge of a precipitous drop. Of their own volition, my eyes popped open and I looked at Shya with a grin. In an instant I had created a climate of fear and danger where none existed.

Sometimes when I start a project or when I am preparing to do something new and challenging, I have the thought that I am not up to the task, that I don’t know how to do it, that it (whatever it is) will be difficult to do. But I have come to realize that, like that nanny goat, I am built to step off that ledge into the unknown, into what’s next and my footing will be sure – even if I am stepping onto the smallest of ledges. I have come to see that investing in being afraid or seeing myself as capable is all a matter of perspective.

I Love Airports! An Excerpt from Practical Enlightenment
by Ariel & Shya Kane

People were surprised when Kat stood up at one of our seminars and without preamble, enthusiastically announced, “I love airports!” It was a Monday evening in early spring and we had encouraged people to come up to the front of the room and talk about what was happening in their lives. Kat is a petite, dynamic woman in her late twenties, with shoulder length auburn hair. Standing on the balls of her feet and leaning toward the group, she grinned as she said, “Recently I flew back from the West Coast and I had a layover in Chicago where they’d had a sudden snow storm. When my flight arrived, they announced that my connecting flight was cancelled and they directed us to a white courtesy phone. I picked up the receiver and was connected to a perfectly nice woman who helped me re-book my flight. Then I went to a restaurant where I had a perfectly nice meal. And I got to walk around and people-watch and visit the airport shops. I was amazed that I had no complaints. I have transformation to thank for that. I used to be so upset and any little unexpected change would make me mad. At least that was how I thought of it at the time.”

“What do you mean?” Ariel asked.

“Well,” Kat said, “I used to actually think that someone or something could make me mad.”

“Ahh, yes.” Shya said. “Most people blame outside circumstances when their anger or annoyance is triggered.

“We’ve been programmed by the cultures we have been raised in to believe that our upsets are caused by events or other people rather than realizing that our upsets are vestiges of our own un-experienced emotions. So when you blame the circumstances as though they are the cause of your emotions you are not being honest that the emotions are generated from within yourself and so they don’t complete themselves. They are not truly experienced. Their cause is placed outside you, as if you have no control over them and, in fact, initially you don’t. Initially your emotional experience is a stimulus/response, re-stimulation mechanism. As we said before, this is part of the cultural heritage, or agreed-upon belief that the culture holds as a truth.”

“And anything you resist, or don’t fully experience, persists, and grows stronger, eventually dominating your life.” Ariel continued. “This is why many people have anger and annoyance on tap. They mistakenly think that someone or something caused their upset. But what they don’t realize is that they are pre-charged and any disturbance can set off an explosion. It’s similar to a gun. It is reasonable to expect that if you pull the trigger on a loaded gun the gun will fire. But if there is no gunpowder in the cartridge then no matter how many times you pull the trigger there won’t be any resulting ‘bang.’ The better you get at saying Yes to what is happening, the less likely you are to have flare-ups when life doesn’t go the way you want.”

“In general people rarely allow themselves to feel what they are feeling” Shya said. “They are habituated to blaming their emotions on something outside themselves so those feelings can never complete. What it takes is to feel what you are feeling, not resist it, and not blame it on something outside yourself. The act of allowing those body sensations and thoughts to run without associating them or attaching them to anything else will allow them to complete themselves – i.e. be experienced out.

“Life is unfolding perfectly in each moment so you haven’t done it wrong, even if you have blamed circumstances for your emotions. But when you do, these emotions keep coming back to be completed. What it takes is compassion for yourself and others. It also takes letting go of blame/being right that someone else is responsible for your experience. You need to let go of your story that your parents are to blame, that your life is to blame, even that you are to blame. It is simply about being with your experience and feeling what you are feeling without judging yourself.”

“Exactly!” Kat said with a grin. “Now it takes a lot before I lose my center. And you know what’s cool?” she asked the room at large. “I didn’t have to tell myself not to be annoyed – I just wasn’t.

“I’ve heard the two of you say over the years that ‘nothing matters and everything matters’ – that nothing is worth losing your state over and it’s possible to go about your life as if everything you do and every moment is important, not just the moments I would prefer. I realize that for me, it’s no longer just an idea. I actually go about my life this way. Of course I lose it from time to time and I get annoyed but it’s become so much easier to see my annoyance and not judge myself for it.”

“That’s brilliant Kat,” Shya said. “Most people spend a lot of time in transit – in airports, morning commutes, in line at the bank or supermarket, and they think that in those moments their lives are on pause while they’re traveling to their intended destination or until they step up to the window to do their business. While waiting to get where they are going, people complain and even socialize via complaints. The miracle of air travel, the wonder of a car, are both deemed ordinary. But when you’re here and say Yes to what is happening in this moment of your life, then even ‘ordinary’ moments, mundane tasks and events are extraordinary.”

Kat grinned again. “I love my life!” she declared and without further ado, she returned to her seat.

Clearly Kat has learned a valuable skill set – the ability to say Yes to situations over which she apparently has no control. She has discovered how to treat the circumstances as if they were her preference and as though they are her idea to begin with which gives her ultimate control. All it takes is wholeheartedly engaging with life as it unfolds.

Summer Savings, Cancer Beating Eating, Being Enough By Cynthia Brian

Strawberries

Welcome to Starstyle®-Be the Star You Are!® with your hosts Cynthia Brian and Heather Brittany on the Voice America Empowerment Channel.  Our goal is to seed, stimulate, and support space for positive, meaningful conversations that will get you talking around the dinner table.

Summer ushers in the travel season for most people around the globe.  Vacations can put a big dent in your budget unless you know the travel tricks. In T42, Mother/Daughter Goddess Gals get you ready to play.

Research indicates that one in three cancers can be prevented by exercising, keeping a healthy weight, and eating nutritious foods. Cynthia Brian serves up a plate of fresh superfoods and beverages.

Not every woman needs to build an empire to be successful and happy. What about feeling content just being who you are? Climbing the ladder isn’t for everyone and there is no need to feel guilt. Just be the star you are in whatever you want to do. Join Cynthia Brian on her investigation into being enough without setting the world on fire.
