Our closing show is the beginning not the end to spiritual growth.  Wise Chats series has been about love and forgiveness.  Its’ about how to “Stand in the Light” using a variety of perspectives: spiritual development, voice for hope, laughter, ethics, healing relationships, getting hooked up, life beyond life, words as healing tools, creating healing environments, ONENESS of all using spiritual cultural traditions.  This episode will include a special story-telling process for “Those Who Served” in the armed forces, to help them heal. This show was prerecorded with Bob in Central Australia at his home in Uluru where he tells in his own words, the plight of the Stolen Generation sanctioned by the Australia government to take Aboriginal children away from their families and put then in government institutions.  He never saw his mother again.  Filled with a sense of loss, he transcended his pain to communicate that we need to come to peace and respect each others background, rights and heritage.  It is not right to take another’s’ culture to be replaced by another  who took their land.  Through his pain and suffering, Bob become a gentle spokesperson for the journey of his people.  He speaks the truth that will fill you with inspiration at the beauty and oneness of all things replacing struggle with peace, replacing anger with forgiveness and replacing sadness with joy and love that is the heritage of all.  He speaks of living in harmony with the land, nature and the animals addressing the Kanyani Principles passed down from the Aborigines elders.  A rare treat to hear firsthand what happened from this gentle, loving soul speaking about unconditional love and responsibility.

Guest:  Bob is a teaching uncle, a “Tjilpi” of the Yankunytiatjara Nation working for equal rights of all living, land rights for traditional peoples, the environment, and community development.  He worked as a counselor through the Methodist Uniting Church.  He also helped establish the Adelaide Community College for Aboriginal people.  Some of his other positions include establishing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Centres at Australian National University, University of Canberra and University of Wollongong.  His famous song “My Brown Skin Baby They Take ‘im Away” won him widespread recognition.

A documentary film of his story won him the Bronze Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and led to the Australian government stop taking away the Aboriginal children from their families.  He was named Indigenous Person of the Year in 1999.  He is part of the Energy Medicine Partnerships cultural partners offering joint training and tours to Australia and New Zealand.

Kanyini description:  an energetic consciousness combination of spiritual and physical – two snakes going in opposite directions.  As they connect they become energized and help each other up to the next level.  From the bottom and up:

Dr. Capogrossi earned his Bachelors in Business Administration, his Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and his Ph.D. in Adult and Continuing Education from Cornell University, where he completed an extensive dissertation investigating the effectiveness of the American education system. Dr. Capogrossi has administered a variety of formal and non-formal education programs including distance learning colleges, trade apprenticeships, work experience projects and on-the-job training within industry and the human services, distance learning training programs for industry, and adult job training through center-based programs. He has coordinated innovative community-based education and work-experience projects for troubled youth at public and private institutions, and has more than eight years’ experience developing and instructing innovative education programs for adult inmates in Hawaii correctional facilities.

Dr. Christina Ross, Recent PhD Graduate of AU

Christina Ross, PhD, is a board-certified Polarity Practitioner (BCPP) practicing energy medicine for over a decade.  She has received bachelor’s degrees in both psychology and physics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a PhD in Energy Medicine from Akamai University in Hilo, Hi.  Her dissertation involved research at the Wake Forest School of Medicine’s Institute for Regenerative Medicine, studying the effect of pulsed electromagnetic field on cell signaling in an inflammatory response model.  Her recent published text is:  Christina L. Leslie Whitcomb, Phd Candidate in Applied EcoPsychologyLeslie Whitcomb, M.Sc., Ph.D. candidate, Child Development in Applied Ecopsychology has been counseling and educating families for thirty years. Her early focus on Post-Partum Adjustment and training in Parent-Infant Mental Health inform her understanding of how biology, neurodevelopment and cultural family patterns impact child and family wellness.  Leslie’s indigenous heritage and her immersion in Earth based ways of knowing and learning impact her understanding of the importance of recognizing sensory interconnection as well as empirical analysis in family studies and research. Leslie is currently finishing a dissertation detailing the ecopsychology of child development. Her research design is based in defining ontologies for, and recording longitudinal data from, self-efficacy measures in learning outcomes. Guest Speaker: Dr Leah Curtin, DSc(h), RN, FANN

In 2008, Dr. Leah Curtin was proclaimed “A Living Legend in Nursing” by the American Academy of Nursing, primarily for her work in ethics.  She published “Ethics in Nursing: Theories and Pragmatics”  in 1980, and along with this AJN Book of the Year, she has written hundreds of articles and columns about ethical issues in nursing. From a key management position, through her numerous speeches and writing, Leah has challenged the status quo throughout her career, forcing others to look inside and “tell the truth.” Another example of her widespread career is her reflective book on the experiences Croatian and Bosnian children during the war in their country. Telling their stories in their own words and art – illustrates all too clearly what they suffered as the result of war.  The title is “Sunflowers in the Sand: Stories from Children of War.”  The show will touch on this topic too, addressing the experience of secondary trauma.

Dr. Mary Jo Bulbrook

Dr. Mary Jo Bulbrook is host of the show Wise Chats and a master teacher, healer in Energy Medicine, and a medical and spiritual intuitive. Her training programs, including “Transform Your Life Through Energy Medicine” (acronym TYLEM) are taught worldwide. Dr. Bulbrook holds a doctorate in Education, and is a recognized healthcare professional in holistic nursing and family therapies. Her forty years of experience is grounded in nursing, complementary therapies and psychotherapy.

Dr. Bulbrook is credited with innovation in nursing theory and practice (designated Canadian Nurse of the Year 1989) and is a gifted master clinician. Her work is greatly influenced by her relationships with indigenous healers in Australia, New Zealand, Peru, South Africa and North America.

Her base of experience includes Therapeutic Touch, Touch for Health, Healing Touch, Energy Medicine, Shamanism, Nature as Healer and Energy Psychology. Dr. Bulbrook is currently the Director of Complementary Therapies at Akamai University, an accredited distance learning institution.
